Netflix Shifts Crypto Plot Via a New Comedy

The mainstream adoption of crypto has gained the attention of Hollywood. The American movie industry, led by Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ: NFLX), has increased the use of crypto in the artworks catalyzed by the institutional adoption of digital assets amid the ongoing legalization of cryptocurrencies.

Hollywood Moves Along With the Global Crypto Adoption Wave

The American movie industry has gradually adopted crypto as a tool for catalyzing engagement with the audience. Furthermore, the crypto industry is estimated to have more than 600 million global users, out of which the American movie industry is focused on luring.

According to Leo Matchett, CEO of Web3 film fund Decentralized Pictures, Hollywood will gradually incorporate crypto in the art as more people embrace it in their daily lives. The use cases for crypto have widened in 2025, catalyzed by the legalization under President Donald Trump. 

With more traditional financial institutions already engaged with Bitcoin and the wider crypto economy, Hollywood has more narratives to pick from and build robust plots for its art. Furthermore, the crypto industry has been depicted as a gambling hub, especially with the collapse of FTX and Terra Luna UST. 

Netflix Eyes Crypto Audience Via ‘One Attempt Remaining’ 

Netflix, which has more than 300 million global paid subscribers, announced a new crypto-related project in early December 2025. The behemoth film studio announced that Jennifer Garner is set to star in the upcoming One Attempt Remaining comedy.

The One Attempt Remaining comedy uses the mechanics of crypto wallets and seed phrases as a plot hook. According to the announcement, the comedy will feature an ex-couple that forgot the passkeys needed to access crypto assets worth millions of dollars.

The Netflix movie shows how the divorced couple attempted to retrace their steps on a cruise during a night when they won the crypto assets. Furthermore, the terms of the account are approaching account expiry, thus pressuring the protagonist to come together.

The One Attempt Remaining is expected to start filming in 2026, with its premiere expected in the first half of 2027.

The Crypto Choice

Netflix is set to heavily benefit from the rising demand for digital assets, if the ‘One Attempt Remaining’ comedy resonates with global fans. The company recently announced its bid to acquire Warner Bros, which will further increase its global audience and impact.

The company’s bid to align its film production for 2026 with the crypto market is strategic. Moreover, Wall Street experts believe that the crypto market will record a bull rally in 2026 akin to the precious metal industry in 2025.

The expected film launch in 2027 will thus likely resonate with a larger global crypto audience, amid its ongoing development and growth.
