MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck off Davao Oriental on Wednesday, January 7, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said in a bulletin.
The earthquake, which was tectonic in origin, struck at a depth of 42 kilometers east of the coast of Manay, Davao Oriental, at 11:02 am. Philvolcs said in its first bulletin that the earthquake was magnitude 6.7 but changed it in an updated advisory.
Philvolcs said in its 11:14 am bulletin that damage and aftershocks were expected.
