A new poll reveals that President Donald Trump is experiencing a dramatic erosion of Latino support at rates that far exceed his overall declining favorability, posing a significant threat to Republican midterm prospects.

The March poll commissioned by Third Way and UnidosUS found Trump's overall favorability rating at 44 percent favorable to 55 percent unfavorable, but among Latino voters the gap widened dramatically to just 34 percent favorable and 66 percent unfavorable — which suggests Trump is hemorrhaging support among a crucial voting bloc that helped power his 2024 election victory, reported MS NOW.

Immigration policy and economic concerns are driving Latino disapproval. When asked to rate Trump's immigration performance, only 32 percent of Latino voters expressed positive views compared to 67 percent negative. By contrast, 44 percent of all voters rated his immigration job positively while 54 percent viewed it negatively. On the economy, 33 percent of Latino voters reported positive feelings versus 66 percent negative, compared to 40 percent positive and 59 percent negative among all voters.

The congressional ballot numbers underscore the political implications. Democrats lead Republicans 45 percent to 41 percent overall, but among Latinos the advantage expands to 61 percent to 31 percent — a 30-point swing compared to Trump's 2024 performance.

Third Way noted that Democrats' 22-point advantage with Latino men on the congressional ballot represents a return to historical voting patterns and significantly exceeds Kamala Harris's 2024 performance among Hispanic voters.

Trump gained more than 10 points of Latino support between 2020 and 2024, suggesting his immigration rhetoric was acceptable or at least not disqualifying to many Latino voters. However, the execution has proven unpopular, with 70 percent of Latino respondents saying Trump's immigration agenda "has gone too far," indicating a gap between campaign promises and governing reality.

Combined with Trump's economic policies — including tariffs and Middle East military operations that have intensified inflation and rising gas prices — the president has alienated non-base voters who supported him based on 2024 economic optimism.
