Bybit has launched its crypto payment service, Bybit Pay, in Peru. The platform now integrates with the country’s most widely used digital wallets, Yape and Plin. Peruvian users can now make cryptocurrency-backed payments using these popular wallets for both online and in-store transactions.

Bybit Pay Launches with Yape and Plin

Peru’s cashless economy is evolving rapidly, and Bybit’s new service taps into this trend. Yape and Plin, two dominant digital wallets, each have around 14 million users in Peru. Through the integration, users can now make payments using cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), USDT, and USDC.

The service allows users to continue using their familiar payment methods while transacting with digital assets. These cryptocurrencies are automatically converted to Peruvian sol (PEN) at the point of payment. The integration makes it easier for consumers to use crypto in everyday transactions.

Digital wallet usage in Peru has surged in recent years. Yape, which accounts for over half of the country’s in-person digital wallet transactions, and Plin, with a strong user base, have made mobile payments mainstream. In fact, more than half of the adult population in Peru uses these mobile-based payment applications, making them ideal for Bybit Pay’s launch.

Patricio Mesri, CEO of Bybit LATAM, commented on the integration, saying, “By integrating with mainstream payment methods Peruvians already know and trust, Bybit Pay is removing barriers to digital asset adoption.” He highlighted Peru as a key market for Bybit’s expansion across Latin America, emphasizing its dynamic digital payment landscape.

Incentives for Bybit Pay Users in Peru

To mark the launch of Bybit Pay, the company is offering several incentives for users in Peru. These include discounts for new users and cashback rewards for existing users making payments via QR codes and phone-number transfers.

Bybit has also confirmed that users who have completed identity verification are eligible to use Bybit Pay. The service is available subject to service availability and provides an easy entry point into the crypto payments ecosystem. The rollout aims to expand Bybit’s influence in the growing digital payments sector across Latin America.

Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC

The post Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson has weighed in on whether the Federal Reserve should make a 25 basis points (bps) Fed rate cut or 50 bps cut. This comes ahead of the Fed decision today at today’s FOMC meeting, with the market pricing in a 25 bps cut. Bitcoin and the broader crypto market are currently trading flat ahead of the rate cut decision. Franklin Templeton CEO Weighs In On Potential FOMC Decision In a CNBC interview, Jenny Johnson said that she expects the Fed to make a 25 bps cut today instead of a 50 bps cut. She acknowledged the jobs data, which suggested that the labor market is weakening. However, she noted that this data is backward-looking, indicating that it doesn’t show the current state of the economy. She alluded to the wage growth, which she remarked is an indication of a robust labor market. She added that retail sales are up and that consumers are still spending, despite inflation being sticky at 3%, which makes a case for why the FOMC should opt against a 50-basis-point Fed rate cut. In line with this, the Franklin Templeton CEO said that she would go with a 25 bps rate cut if she were Jerome Powell. She remarked that the Fed still has the October and December FOMC meetings to make further cuts if the incoming data warrants it. Johnson also asserted that the data show a robust economy. However, she noted that there can’t be an argument for no Fed rate cut since Powell already signaled at Jackson Hole that they were likely to lower interest rates at this meeting due to concerns over a weakening labor market. Notably, her comment comes as experts argue for both sides on why the Fed should make a 25 bps cut or…
