Bitwise’s move wasn’t just another ETF listing; it was a statement. The firm launched four new crypto funds, but the Solana product quickly took center stage, far surpassing its peers. Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, who had predicted the launch volumes on X the day before, was quick to admit his surprise at how accurately his “sixth sense for ETFs” played out.

Solana Leads as Altcoin ETFs Struggle

Launched with $223 million in assets under management, BSOL drew heavy interest from institutional investors who had previously approached altcoins with caution. The ETF is fully staked, offering exposure to Solana’s yield generation with an estimated 7% annual return.

While Solana dominated, other new crypto ETFs barely made a ripple. The Hedera ETF (HBR) saw around $8 million in day-one volume, and the Litecoin ETF (LTCC) managed only $1 million. Solana’s clear lead underscored a shifting sentiment — where speculative hype is giving way to structured, yield-focused participation.

Regulatory Clarity Fuels the Boom

Part of this success stems from recent regulatory progress. After years of hesitation, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission clarified in May and August 2025 that certain staking mechanisms tied to proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchains would not be classified as securities. That opened the door for products like BSOL to enter regulated markets.

Bitwise had already tested similar staking models in Europe and saw an opening. Timing, it seems, was everything. In a post on X, the company declared: “It is now the largest spot Solana ETF, with 100% staking, aiming to maximize average rewards of over 7%. The story of Solana continues.”

A Defining Moment for Solana and Bitwise

The launch marks more than just a financial milestone — it symbolizes Solana’s growing credibility within traditional finance. By merging staking returns with the accessibility of ETFs, Bitwise has positioned Solana as the proof-of-stake ecosystem’s flagship on Wall Street.

With strong early demand, favorable regulation, and a robust staking model, BSOL’s debut may redefine how traditional investors view yield-generating crypto assets. Bitwise has made it clear: in the ETF race, agility and innovation can outperform even the biggest names in finance.

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…
