It’s the 1,600th Wordle today. Kind of crazy to think we’ve playing this game for so long. That’s over four years, though many of us didn’t start until the game went viral several months after release. It wasn’t long after the game took off that the New York Times purchased it from creator Josh Wardle back in January 2022, leading to a surge in popularity for various other NYT Games puzzles.

In any case, it’s Wordle Wednesday so I have an extra puzzle for you to solve before we get to the Wordle. Here’s today’s:

A man is walking in the woods and comes across a cabin. He looks inside and sees rows and rows of dead bodies. What happened?

I’ll post the answer tomorrow. Now, onto the Wordle!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

How To Play Wordle

Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer:

  • Green: The letter is in the word and in the correct spot.
  • Yellow: The letter is in the word, but in the wrong spot.
  • Gray: The letter is not in the word at all.

Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post.

Wordle Bot Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordle score with Wordle Bot right here.

SMITE was a good opening guess, though I got the exact same letters as the Wordle Bot with SLATE. I slashed the 48 words remaining down to just 5 with CLOUT and then got very lucky on my next guess, SHORT, since that was the Wordle. Huzzah!

Competitive Wordle Score

Today’s Wordle Bot

The Wordle Bot was not so lucky, which fills me with a deep, warm sense of satisfaction. I get 1 point for guessing in three and 1 for beating the Bot. The Bot gets 0 for guessing in four and -1 for losing to me. Our November totals widen:

Erik: 3 points

Wordle Bot: 0 points

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word short comes from Old English sceort or scort, meaning “not long.” It’s related to Old High German scurz (“short”) and ultimately derives from a Proto-Germanic root skurta-, likely meaning “cut off” or “brief.” So the original sense was literally something “cut short” or “abridged.”

The post Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson has weighed in on whether the Federal Reserve should make a 25 basis points (bps) Fed rate cut or 50 bps cut. This comes ahead of the Fed decision today at today’s FOMC meeting, with the market pricing in a 25 bps cut. Bitcoin and the broader crypto market are currently trading flat ahead of the rate cut decision. Franklin Templeton CEO Weighs In On Potential FOMC Decision In a CNBC interview, Jenny Johnson said that she expects the Fed to make a 25 bps cut today instead of a 50 bps cut. She acknowledged the jobs data, which suggested that the labor market is weakening. However, she noted that this data is backward-looking, indicating that it doesn’t show the current state of the economy. She alluded to the wage growth, which she remarked is an indication of a robust labor market. She added that retail sales are up and that consumers are still spending, despite inflation being sticky at 3%, which makes a case for why the FOMC should opt against a 50-basis-point Fed rate cut. In line with this, the Franklin Templeton CEO said that she would go with a 25 bps rate cut if she were Jerome Powell. She remarked that the Fed still has the October and December FOMC meetings to make further cuts if the incoming data warrants it. Johnson also asserted that the data show a robust economy. However, she noted that there can’t be an argument for no Fed rate cut since Powell already signaled at Jackson Hole that they were likely to lower interest rates at this meeting due to concerns over a weakening labor market. Notably, her comment comes as experts argue for both sides on why the Fed should make a 25 bps cut or…
