KuCoin charges 0.10% maker and 0.10% taker on Spot Class A pairs at VIP 0, 0.20% on Class B and 0.30% on Class C, with futures at 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker.
Paying fees in KCS takes 20% off spot, KuCoin's fee page lists no charge for incoming crypto transfers, and withdrawal fees are set per coin and per network.

Key Takeaways
  • KuCoin prices spot in three pair classes, so the entry rate is 0.10%, 0.20% or 0.30% depending on which coin you trade.
  • Futures start at 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker, and the fee page labels both discount columns for spot only.
  • Paying fees in KCS takes 20% off spot, and the discount stops once your class rate is already below 0.025%, 0.050% or 0.075%.
  • KuCoin removed its negative maker mechanism on 30 April 2026, so any guide still promising a maker rebate is quoting a dead rate.
  • A 0% spot maker fee starts at VIP 8, which needs 250,000,000 USDT of 30 day spot volume or 70,000 KCS held.

Why the advertised 0.10% is not what many KuCoin traders pay

Search for KuCoin fees and almost every result gives you the same figure: 0.10% maker and taker.
That figure is accurate for Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, USDT and the rest of the majors KuCoin groups into Spot Class A.
It is not the rate you pay on the smaller listings, and those are the pairs where a fee difference compounds fastest.
Class B pairs are priced at 0.20% and Class C pairs at 0.30% at the entry tier, which means the same order can cost three times more depending only on which coin sits on the left of the pair.
There is a mechanical reason this keeps getting missed.
KuCoin's fee ladder loads inside the browser rather than as static text, so a guide can be republished with a fresh date on top and a year-old table underneath.
The clearest proof arrived on 30 April 2026, when KuCoin removed negative maker fees and reset its top tiers, yet fee guides refreshed months later still tell readers they can earn a 0.005% rebate for adding liquidity.
Everything below was read off KuCoin's own VIP Levels and Fees page on 10 September 2026, including the tier ladder, the per-class coin lists, the qualification thresholds and the withdrawal fee table.

KuCoin spot trading fees by pair class

At VIP 0, the three classes price identically on both sides of the book, which is unusual and worth noting: there is no maker discount at the entry tier.

Which coins sit in which class

KuCoin publishes a searchable list under each class tab, and Class A holds the majors: BTC, ETH, XRP, SOL, ADA, DOGE, TRX, AVAX, LINK, DOT, LTC, USDT, USDC and KCS among them.
The page states that the fee tier is set by the base currency while the fee itself is charged in the quote currency, so in KCS/BTC the tier follows KCS and the charge lands in BTC.
Classes are not fixed for life either.
KuCoin reclassified POLS from Class A to Class B and DAPP from Class B to Class C effective 12 June 2025, moving their base spot rates to 0.20% and 0.30% respectively.
Before you size a position in a thin market, the class tab is the single cheapest thing you can check.

Data verified as of 10 September 2026 against each platform's official fee schedule and help center.
Read those two tables together and the practical answer for most people is that they will trade at VIP 0 or VIP 1 indefinitely.
Holding 1,000 KCS is the realistic route to VIP 1, and it buys a 0.005 percentage point cut on the Class A maker side.

What KuCoin changed on 30 April 2026

KuCoin announced a spot VIP fee adjustment effective 30 April 2026 at 16:00 UTC+8, and it did two things.
It set spot maker fees for VIP 8 through VIP 12 uniformly to 0%, which ended the negative maker mechanism that previously paid VIP 11 and VIP 12 makers rebates of 0.003% and 0.005% on Class A pairs, and up to 0.01% on Class B and Class C.
It also raised taker rates at VIP 8: Class A moved from 0.040% to 0.042%, Class B from 0.08% to 0.084% and Class C from 0.12% to 0.126%.
The same notice's own table also shows VIP 11 taker rates rising, from 0.025% to 0.028% on Class A, even though the summary above that table says taker changes apply only to VIP 8.
The live page now shows exactly those post-change numbers, which confirms the adjustment took effect as announced.
If you are comparing quotes from different articles, this date is the fault line.

KuCoin Futures Fees: 0.02% Maker, 0.06% Taker

Futures start at 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker at VIP 0 and fall to 0% maker and 0.025% taker at VIP 12.
The maker side reaches 0% at VIP 8, matching the spot change described above.
On the discount question, KuCoin's fee table labels both discount columns for spot, so a futures order is charged at the listed futures rate for your tier.
Funding payments on perpetual contracts are separate from trading fees and can outweigh them on a held position, which is worth modelling before you compare venues on headline rates alone.
If futures pricing is your main concern, our comparison of futures fees across platforms runs the same order through every published schedule.

How the KCS discount works, and where it stops

Turning on Pay Fees with KCS applies a 20% discount to spot trading fees at every tier.
KuCoin charges the discounted amount in KCS, calculated at the latest market price with a 5% buffer applied to absorb price movement during settlement.
The discount has a floor: it no longer applies once your Class A, Class B or Class C rate is already below 0.025%, 0.050% or 0.075% respectively.
From VIP 8 upward the fee page marks the discount as taker only, which follows from maker already being zero at those tiers.
A separate KCS Loyalty column adds a further 0.5% to 2%, and holding KCS is also the cheapest way to move up a tier without trading volume.
The trade-off is straightforward: you are holding an exchange token to lower a fee, which is a price exposure you did not have before.

Deposit and withdrawal costs

KuCoin's fee page publishes trading and withdrawal fees and lists no charge for incoming crypto transfers, so the cost of funding is the sending network's fee.
On the way out, the published withdrawal table runs to 121 pages of coin and network combinations, and the spread within a single coin is the part most cost guides skip.

Sending MTV over ERC20 rather than BEP20 costs about 23 times as much for the same withdrawal, and CRO over ERC20 rather than KCC costs about four times as much.
There is also a pattern in that table we have not seen published elsewhere: on all ten rows checked, the minimum withdrawal is exactly twice the fee.
Withdraw the minimum permitted amount and half of it goes to the fee, which is the quiet tax on moving small balances off any exchange.
Our breakdown of withdrawal fees by route across platforms covers the same problem on stablecoin transfers, where the gap is widest.

The reason we run this calculation on our own platform as well is that the long tail is exactly where the class system bites, and the long tail is what MEXC is priced for.
If you trade small listings, you are the trader most exposed to a fee schedule that charges by coin category, because your positions sit in Class B and Class C by definition.
MEXC does not run pair classes on spot: the standard schedule is 0% maker and 0.050% taker across pairs, falling to 0.040% taker with the MX deduction enabled, published on the MEXC fee page.
On the profile above, that is 300 USD a year against 1,800 USD on a Class C pair, and a maker-heavy year at 50,000 USD a month costs 600 USD on KuCoin Class A against nothing on MEXC.
Two boundaries belong in that comparison, because zero-fee marketing rarely comes with them.
MEXC taker orders are not free at 0.050%, a set of pairs runs promotional zero-fee on both sides rather than all pairs permanently, and futures orders placed through the API follow a separate schedule of 0.06% maker and 0.08% taker effective 1 June 2026.
Our ranking of the major exchanges for 2026 puts both platforms next to the rest of the market on the same basis, and our audit of zero-fee claims checks which platforms are actually zero on every line.

Who KuCoin's fee schedule suits, and who pays for it

KuCoin's pricing works well for a specific trader.
If your volume sits in Class A majors, if you run grid or DCA bots that place mostly maker orders, and if you would rather hold 1,000 KCS than chase a volume threshold, the entry tier is competitive and the tier-by-holding route is genuinely useful.
The schedule works against you in three cases.
Small-cap and newly listed pairs land in Class B or Class C, so the cost of hunting the long tail is two to three times the advertised rate.
Taker-heavy trading pays full price at every tier below VIP 8, since KuCoin only discounts the maker side as you climb.
Market makers who were relying on the old rebate at VIP 11 and VIP 12 no longer have one anywhere on the ladder.
If you are weighing the platform as a whole rather than its fees, our roundup of KuCoin alternatives ranked by tracked coin count compares catalogue breadth on one tracker, and our review of the best altcoin exchanges covers where the long tail is cheapest to trade.

Where you can actually pay these fees

A fee schedule only matters if you can open the account, and KuCoin's access map changed twice in 2026.
In the United States, a federal court in the Southern District of New York entered a consent order announced by the CFTC on 30 March 2026 that permanently bars KuCoin's operator from letting US participants trade on the platform unless it registers as a foreign board of trade, alongside a 500,000 USD civil penalty.
That followed a guilty plea in January 2025 to operating an unlicensed money transmitting business, with penalties above 297 million USD and a commitment to exit the US market for at least two years.
US readers should use a platform licensed in the United States, and nothing in this article is an invitation to do otherwise.
In the European Economic Area, Austria's Financial Market Authority authorised KuCoin EU Exchange GmbH as a crypto-asset service provider on 27 November 2025, then prohibited new business in February 2026 after anti-money-laundering and sanctions roles fell vacant.
The FMA lifted that new-business ban on 18 May 2026 while stating that commencement of business operations remains inadmissible until the outstanding governance and senior-management conditions are met.
MEXC is not the answer for EEA readers either, and we would rather say so plainly.
MEXC appears on ESMA's register of non-compliant entities following the Dutch AFM decision, and MEXC is winding down service in the Netherlands, with 31 October 2026 as the recommended date to move assets and final offboarding on 16 November 2026.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, treat this page as information rather than a recommendation, and check which platforms hold local authorisation before funding anything.

The MEXC View

We should be upfront: MEXC publishes this article, MEXC competes with KuCoin, and we quote our own rates in it.
That is exactly why every KuCoin number here comes from KuCoin's own fee page with the date we read it, so you can check us.
Credit where it is due.
KuCoin's tier-by-holding route is friendlier than a pure volume ladder, its trading bots are bundled at no extra cost, and its fee page publishes the per-class coin lists rather than hiding which pairs cost more.
Our disagreement is with the pricing model rather than the disclosure.
Charging by coin category means the traders taking the most risk on the least liquid listings pay the highest rate, and we think that is backwards, which is why MEXC prices one spot schedule for every pair.
You can read how we verify and compare exchanges before you decide how much weight to give any of this.

Frequently asked questions

How much are KuCoin fees?
Spot is 0.10% maker and taker on Class A pairs at VIP 0, 0.20% on Class B and 0.30% on Class C.
Futures are 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker.

Are KuCoin fees 0.1% for all coins?
No, 0.10% applies only to Spot Class A pairs, which hold the majors.
Class B pairs cost 0.20% and Class C pairs cost 0.30% at the entry tier.

Does KuCoin still pay negative maker fees?
No, KuCoin removed the negative maker mechanism on 30 April 2026.
Spot maker is 0% from VIP 8 to VIP 12, with no rebate above that.

How much does the KCS discount save?
Paying fees with KCS cuts spot fees by 20%, so 0.10% becomes 0.08% and 0.30% becomes 0.24%.
It does not apply below the class floors of 0.025%, 0.050% and 0.075%.

Does KuCoin charge deposit fees?
KuCoin does not charge a platform fee on crypto deposits, so you pay only the sending network's fee.
Fiat rails are priced separately, and KuCoin's own SEPA page lists a 1 EUR deposit fee.

What is the cheapest way to lower KuCoin fees?
Enable the KCS discount, place maker orders where you can, and check the pair class before trading.
On withdrawals, comparing networks matters more, since can cost about 23 times as much on the wrong one.

Can US traders pay these fees at all?
No, a court order entered in March 2026 bars KuCoin from serving US participants unless it registers with the CFTC, which it has not done.
US residents should use a locally licensed platform.
