OpenAI announced a collaboration with Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) aimed at designing and developing the next generation of AI infrastructure and hardware. The announcement did not specify any purchase agreements but gave OpenAI early access to Foxconn’s innovation with the possibility of purchasing the systems.

OpenAI has partnered with Foxconn to advance development of AI hardware and data center components in the U.S. OpenAI announced in its infrastructure development plans that it will be the first to evaluate and test the hardware developed by the electronics company before exploring the option of purchasing.

The AI company did not disclose any financial terms agreed between the two entities. The collaboration marks a significant step toward strengthening the United States’ position as a global leader in AI.

The agreement states that the two companies will jointly develop various AI servers and manufacture essential components, including power, cooling systems, networking elements, and other hardware, at Foxconn’s facilities in the U.S. Foxconn has facilities in various locations, including Ohio, Texas, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Virginia, according to its official website.

Sam Altman commented on the partnership, stating that it represents a significant step in ensuring core AI developments occur within U.S. soil. He emphasized that the developments from the alliance will ensure the United States fortifies its leadership in AI infrastructure development and that the benefits of AI technology are widely used.

The news comes after Trump called for a nationwide standard to regulate AI development in the U.S. Trump raised concerns that regulating AI development at the state level would lead to overregulation of the industry, resulting in significantly slow progress in its development.

The president also added that the slow progress could help China’s innovation in the industry surpass that of the U.S. Cryptopolitan reported in March that Sam Altman’s OpenAI had urged the Trump administration to pioneer federal regulation over state regulation in the AI sector.

The company argued that fragmented regulations at the state level raise serious concerns about the potential for damaging America’s position as a leading AI developer. OpenAI’s concerns arose amid the development of hundreds of AI-related bills that were under review across various U.S. states at the time.

Foxconn commits to future AI development

Foxconn develops AI servers for Nvidia and assembles Apple products, such as the iPhone. The Taiwanese tech company has been expanding its portfolio by venturing into electric vehicles and making major strategic acquisitions of numerous electronic companies.

Foxconn shares have risen by 25% year-over-year on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. During its recent earnings report, the tech company reported a 17% year-over-year surge in net profit, which amounted to approximately 57.6 billion Taiwan dollars, equivalent to $1.8 billion. A significant share of the realized gains came from its cloud networking wing, which houses AI servers. During the earnings call, the company’s leaders expressed their belief in AI technology and articulated the industry’s optimistic future.

Young Liu, Chairman of Foxconn, stated that the company will commit to more partnerships in the future to advance AI development. The chairperson also announced that the electronic company will support OpenAI’s mission with trusted, scalable infrastructure that spearheads innovation and access to transformative AI capabilities for enterprises globally.

OpenAI’s commitment to AI technology has led to its involvement in strategic partnerships with major tech companies, including Nvidia and AMD, worth billions of dollars. The alliances aim to reshape the AI ecosystem by expanding the computing power required to host OpenAI’s AI models and services.

The AI company is also collaborating with U.S. chipmaker Broadcom to develop chips specifically designed to accommodate AI technology. The company has also committed $1.4 trillion to the development of AI infrastructure, including 30 gigawatts of computing resources.

UK crypto holders brace for FCA’s expanded regulatory reach

The post UK crypto holders brace for FCA’s expanded regulatory reach appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. British crypto holders may soon face a very different landscape as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) moves to expand its regulatory reach in the industry. A new consultation paper outlines how the watchdog intends to apply its rulebook to crypto firms, shaping everything from asset safeguarding to trading platform operation. According to the financial regulator, these proposals would translate into clearer protections for retail investors and stricter oversight of crypto firms. UK FCA plans Until now, UK crypto users mostly encountered the FCA through rules on promotions and anti-money laundering checks. The consultation paper goes much further. It proposes direct oversight of stablecoin issuers, custodians, and crypto-asset trading platforms (CATPs). For investors, that means the wallets, exchanges, and coins they rely on could soon be subject to the same governance and resilience standards as traditional financial institutions. The regulator has also clarified that firms need official authorization before serving customers. This condition should, in theory, reduce the risk of sudden platform failures or unclear accountability. David Geale, the FCA’s executive director of payments and digital finance, said the proposals are designed to strike a balance between innovation and protection. He explained: “We want to develop a sustainable and competitive crypto sector – balancing innovation, market integrity and trust.” Geale noted that while the rules will not eliminate investment risks, they will create consistent standards, helping consumers understand what to expect from registered firms. Why does this matter for crypto holders? The UK regulatory framework shift would provide safer custody of assets, better disclosure of risks, and clearer recourse if something goes wrong. However, the regulator was also frank in its submission, arguing that no rulebook can eliminate the volatility or inherent risks of holding digital assets. Instead, the focus is on ensuring that when consumers choose to invest, they do…
