The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) denied the information of Reuters about the alleged termination of activities.
It also said the department last week canceled 78 contracts deemed wasteful, saving taxpayers $335 million.
The DOGE added that it will be back in a few days with a regular Friday update.
Recall, earlier Reuters reported that DOGE had actually disbanded. Then journalists referred to the words of the head of the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Scott Kupor, who said that the Department “ceased to be a centralized structure” and now “actually does not exist”.
The material notes that most of the functions of DOGE transferred to OPM, and some employees were transferred to other positions.
Recall, DOGE was created after the victory of Donald Trump in the presidential elections as a structure designed to optimize federal spending. At first, the department was headed by billionaire Ilon Musk. According to the decree of Trump, the powers of DOGE should end in July 2026.
