TLDR

  • Bitwise’s Dogecoin ETF, trading under the ticker BWOW, officially launches today on NYSE Arca.
  • The ETF offers regulated exposure to Dogecoin’s price performance for both institutional and retail investors.
  • Coinbase Custody Trust will act as the custodian for the fund’s assets.
  • Bitwise’s Dogecoin ETF is registered under the Securities Act of 1933, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Grayscale’s Dogecoin ETF experienced a slow start with only $1.4 million in trading volume on its first day.

Bitwise’s Dogecoin ETF has received approval from NYSE Arca, with trading set to begin today. The ETF, which will trade under the ticker BWOW, offers investors exposure to Dogecoin’s price performance. This marks a key milestone for the cryptocurrency as it joins a growing list of regulated investment vehicles.

Bitwise’s DOGE ETF Goes Live on NYSE Arca

Bitwise confirmed the launch of its Dogecoin ETF, following the NYSE Arca’s certification of the fund’s listing. The firm posted an official announcement on X, detailing that the Dogecoin ETF aims to provide both institutional and retail investors with a safe investment avenue. “Dogecoin’s market presence needs a regulated investment vehicle,” Bitwise said, emphasizing the coin’s current market size of $22 billion.

The ETF will be listed under the ticker BWOW and managed by Coinbase Custody Trust, which will serve as its custodian. The fund is registered under the Securities Act of 1933, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. It is designed to track Dogecoin’s price performance, allowing investors to gain exposure to the asset without directly holding it.

Grayscale’s Dogecoin ETF debuted earlier this week but has faced challenges in gaining market traction. Despite analyst predictions that the fund would see at least $12 million in trading volume, it actually recorded only $1.4 million. “The further away you get from BTC, the less asset there will be,” said Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas.

The slow market response to Grayscale’s Dogecoin ETF could signal a more cautious appetite among investors for meme coin products. While Grayscale has struggled, experts are hopeful that Bitwise’s Dogecoin ETF will attract more attention and perform better in the market.

21Shares Could Follow Suit with Its Own DOGE ETF

Following Bitwise’s success, 21Shares may soon launch its own Dogecoin ETF. The firm recently amended its SEC filing to expedite the process. It has already secured a listing on the DTCC website, indicating that its product could debut soon. The growing interest in Dogecoin ETFs could offer more options for investors seeking exposure to the cryptocurrency.

Despite a slow start for some Dogecoin ETF products, the market remains hopeful that Bitwise’s offering will deliver better results. The increased interest in Dogecoin as an asset is driving the push for more regulated investment vehicles to meet the demand.

Michael Saylor Pushes Digital Capital Narrative At Bitcoin Treasuries Unconference

The post Michael Saylor Pushes Digital Capital Narrative At Bitcoin Treasuries Unconference appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The suitcoiners are in town.  From a low-key, circular podium in the middle of a lavish New York City event hall, Strategy executive chairman Michael Saylor took the mic and opened the Bitcoin Treasuries Unconference event. He joked awkwardly about the orange ties, dresses, caps and other merch to the (mostly male) audience of who’s-who in the bitcoin treasury company world.  Once he got onto the regular beat, it was much of the same: calm and relaxed, speaking freely and with confidence, his keynote was heavy on the metaphors and larger historical stories. Treasury companies are like Rockefeller’s Standard Oil in its early years, Michael Saylor said: We’ve just discovered crude oil and now we’re making sense of the myriad ways in which we can use it — the automobile revolution and jet fuel is still well ahead of us.  Established, trillion-dollar companies not using AI because of “security concerns” make them slow and stupid — just like companies and individuals rejecting digital assets now make them poor and weak.  “I’d like to think that we understood our business five years ago; we didn’t.”  We went from a defensive investment into bitcoin, Saylor said, to opportunistic, to strategic, and finally transformational; “only then did we realize that we were different.” Michael Saylor: You Come Into My Financial History House?! Jokes aside, Michael Saylor is very welcome to the warm waters of our financial past. He acquitted himself honorably by invoking the British Consol — though mispronouncing it, and misdating it to the 1780s; Pelham’s consolidation of debts happened in the 1750s and perpetual government debt existed well before then — and comparing it to the gold standard and the future of bitcoin. He’s right that Strategy’s STRC product in many ways imitates the consols; irredeemable, perpetual debt, issued at par, with…
