Las acciones de la empresa alemana de ropa y calzado deportivos, Puma, se dispararon cerca de 19% la jornada del jueves en la Bolsa de Fráncfort después de conocerse el “supuesto interés” de Anta Sports Products y Li Ning, empresas chinas de ropa deportiva, por una posible adquisición.

Las cotizaciones de la empresa fundada por Rudolf Dassler, cerraron en 20.22 euros cada una, un incremento de 18.94%, alcanzando un valor de mercado de 3,000 millones de euros, según información de Companies Market Cap.

Las empresas chinas, que cotizan en Hong Kong, evalúan una oferta, pero la reducción a la mitad del valor de mercado de Puma este año dificulta llegar a un acuerdo sobre la valoración de la operación con Artemis, el mayor accionista de Puma y holding privado que controla a Kering, propietario de Gucci, destacó una fuente con conocimiento del asunto.

En lo que va del año, las acciones de Puma registran una caída de 54.42% respecto del último día de 2024 cuando cotizaron en 44.36 euros.

Además, la empresa japonesa de ropa deportiva ASICS también podría estar interesada en la adquisición de la empresa alemana, según reportó Bloomberg.

Malas cifras

Puma se encuentra en medio de lo que se denomina un “reinicio”, ya que el volumen de sus ventas ha disminuido drásticamente tras el aumento de ingresos durante el COVID-19.

Sin embargo, tras la pandemia, la marca alemana ha lidiado con la pérdida de confianza por parte de los clientes y, como resultado, con los altos inventarios.

En un mercado de ropa deportiva cada vez más competitivo, nuevas compañías como la suiza On Running y la francesa Hoka han ganado popularidad entre los clientes, mientras que Puma ha perdido terreno frente a estos nuevos competidores y a su gran rival, Adidas.

Ante el descenso de las ventas, la junta directiva de Puma despidió en abril al director ejecutivo Arne Freundt y nombró a Arthur Hoeld, anteriormente director de ventas de Adidas, para reemplazarlo. (Con información de Reuters)
