IOTA Expands Digital Identity Push as Turing Space Integrates Secure Credential System

  • Turing Space will leverage IOTA’s feeless architecture and identity framework, along with tools like IOTA Notarization and Gas Station.
  • Its Turing Certs platform issues secure, tamper-proof digital credentials and has already supported large-scale deployments.

The IOTA Business Innovation Program has recently partnered with Turing Space while expanding its focus into digital identity and other credential verification use cases. This program will support builders developing real-world applications on distributed ledger technology (DLT), as early participants concentrate on supply chain and tokenised asset solutions.

Using its verification platform, Turing Space is developing its global digital trust layer dubbed Turing Certs. This layer issues and validates tamper-proof and secure digital credentials. Previously, the company has worked with top global organisations such as the World Health Organisation for issuing digital certificates to over 12,000 volunteers across 150 countries.

Additionally, Turing Space has helped verify more than 3.5 million renewable energy certificates in Taiwan. By getting all the digital credentials on-chain, the platform is now targeting an 80% reduction in verification times. Moreover, it also aims for an over 50% drop in administration costs and ensures compliance at the same time with ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and GDPR standards.

Turing Space said that it selected IOTA due to its low cost, feeless transaction design, and a native identity framework. All these factors help in supporting verifiable credentials along with W3C-standard decentralised identifiers (DIDs).

In their latest development, the IOTA Foundation noted that regulators in the Asia Pacific region are working to support innovative crypto projects while addressing risks simultaneously. The Foundation stated that it will work towards privacy-focused compliance and similar legal frameworks.

Leveraging the Technology Stack

Turing Space noted that it will leverage IOTA’s wide technology stack, which includes IOTA Gas Station, IOTA Notarization, and the IOTA Explorer. Besides, the platform is also working on future upgrades for AI-based fraud detection and quantum-resistant encryption.

Over the long term, it aims to develop Turing Certs into a comprehensive “lifelong passport” system that can store and verify credentials across education, professional development, health, and other use cases.

The IOTA Business Innovation Program has attracted new applicants who are working on building verifiable and scalable solutions. As previously reported by CNF, the Foundation is also working on a secret initiative dubbed Project P. As per insiders, Project P could be a real-world asset (RWA) comparable to its other ongoing projects, such as Salus. As per the latest rumours, IOTA is likely to provide further details about this project next month, in December. Many believe that this could set the tone for further IOTA network growth overall.
