Tesla Inc. ($TSLA) Stock: China Sales Decline 4% Y/Y in August Amid Just 600 Orders in India Since July Launch

TLDR

  • Tesla’s China-made EV sales fell 4% year-over-year in August.
  • Deliveries rose 22.6% month-on-month to 83,192 units.
  • India orders since July launch totaled just 600 cars.
  • Tesla stock closed at $333.86, down 3.5% on August 29, 2025.
  • BYD reported its fourth consecutive monthly decline in China.

Tesla’s China-made electric vehicle sales fell 4% year-over-year in August, reflecting growing pressure in the world’s largest EV market. Deliveries of Model 3 and Model Y vehicles from the Shanghai factory, including exports to Europe and other regions, totaled 83,192 units. On a month-to-month basis, this was a 22.6% increase from July. As of the previous close, Tesla stocks traded at $333.86, a 3.50% drop, and a 0.50% drop in Pre-Market.

Tesla, Inc. (TSLA)

The dip highlights the challenge of competing in China’s crowded EV sector. Tesla has been refreshing its lineup in hopes of appealing to customers seeking newer designs. Rival BYD, which accounts for 80% of its sales in China, also posted its fourth straight month of declines in August.

Struggles in India Launch

Tesla began selling cars in India in mid-July, but demand has fallen short of expectations. The company has received just over 600 orders so far, Bloomberg reported. Tesla now plans to ship between 350 and 500 vehicles to India this year, with the first batch arriving from Shanghai in early September.

Deliveries will focus on Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, and Gurugram. Shipments are tied to full payments already received, while Tesla explores options to extend deliveries beyond these cities.

The Model Y, priced at roughly $70,000, is expensive by Indian standards due to high import tariffs. Tesla has long urged India to reduce these levies but has yet to secure concessions. India’s EV adoption remains at just 4% of car sales, and infrastructure gaps such as limited charging stations, poor traffic discipline, and road conditions pose obstacles.

Stock and Performance Overview

Tesla stock closed at $333.86 on August 29, 2025, down 3.5%, before slipping another 0.34% to $332.72 in pre-market trading. Year-to-date, the stock is down 17.33%, trailing the S&P 500’s 9.84% gain. Over the past year, however, Tesla gained 61.85%, compared to the index’s 15.53% return.

Three-year returns stand at 17.22% versus the S&P 500’s 60.28%. Over five years, Tesla still outperformed with a 126.26% gain against the S&P’s 84.16%.

Financial Snapshot

Tesla’s market cap stands at $1.08 trillion, with an enterprise value of $1.05 trillion. The stock trades at a trailing P/E of 198.73 and a forward P/E of 178.57, signaling steep valuations. Revenue for the trailing twelve months is $92.72 billion, generating $5.88 billion in net income and $1.67 in diluted EPS.

Tesla holds $36.78 billion in cash and maintains a total debt-to-equity ratio of 16.82%. Profit margins are at 6.34%, with returns on assets and equity at 2.91% and 8.18%, respectively.

‘Groundbreaking’: Barry Silbert Reacts to Approval of ETF with XRP Exposure

The post ‘Groundbreaking’: Barry Silbert Reacts to Approval of ETF with XRP Exposure appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. A “combo” ETF  Crypto ETF trailblazer  Digital Currency Group founder Barry Silbert has reacted to the approval of the Grayscale Digital Large Cap Fund  (GDLC), the very first multi-crypto exchange-traded fund (ETF), describing it as “groundbreaking.”  “Grayscale continues to be the first mover, driving new product innovations that bridge tradfi and digital assets,” Silbert said while commenting on the news.  Peter Mintzberg, chief executive officer at Graysacle, claims that the team behind the world’s leading cryptocurrency asset manager is working “expeditiously” in order to bring the product to the market.  A “combo” ETF  The ETF in question offers exposure to Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), as well as several other major altcoins, including the Ripple-linked XRP token, Solana (SOL), and Cardano (ADA). XRP, for instance, has a 5.2% share of the fund, making it the third-largest constituent.  The fund initially debuted as a private placement for accredited investors back in early 2018, and its shares later became available on over-the-counter (OTC) markets.  In early July, the SEC approved the conversion of GDLC into an ETF, but it was then abruptly halted for a “review” shortly after this.  As of Sept. 17, the fund currently has a total of $915.6 million in assets.  Crypto ETF trailblazer  It is worth noting that Grayscale is usually credited with kickstarting the cryptocurrency ETF craze by winning its court case against the SEC.  The SEC ended up approving Bitcoin ETFs in early 2024 and then followed up with Ethereum ETFs.  Grayscale’s flagship GBTC currently boasts more than $20.5 billion in net assets, according to data provided by SoSoValue.  Source: https://u.today/groundbreaking-barry-silbert-reacts-to-approval-of-etf-with-xrp-exposure
