Vice President JD Vance, who has been under increasing scrutiny for not toeing the Donald Trump administration line on the Iran war, made what appeared to be an attempt to get back in line by applauding an ICE operation underway in Minneapolis.
That led a former US Attorney to advise the vice president to butt out.

Early Tuesday morning, Bill Melugin of Fox News posted on X about a major operation being undertaken by the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI in Minneapolis, which has been under siege by ICE agents for months.
On X, Melugin wrote, “BREAKING: DOJ confirms to @FoxNews that FBI and HSI agents are currently raiding 20+ locations in the Minneapolis, MN area in relation to ongoing federal fraud investigations. Sources tell FOX the locations are largely Somali linked businesses, including the infamous ‘Quality Learning Center’. I'm told these are court approved search warrants being served and they are tied to fraud, not immigration enforcement. Fox is told 22 search warrants were executed in Minnesota this morning. DOJ spokesperson holding statement: ‘Today the FBI with federal, state and local law enforcement is involved in court-authorized law enforcement activity as part of an ongoing fraud investigation.’”
That led the VP to re-post the report and add, “The task force and the DOJ will be relentless in exposing these fraudsters wherever they may be hiding.”
Former US Attorney Joyce Vance, no relation to the veep, admonished the vice president to not to interfere with an ongoing investigation.
Posting a screenshot of the veep’s post, she advised, “The vice president of the United States should not be weighing in on criminal prosecutions, let alone criminal investigations in progress. This is how banana republics function, taking out revenge on enemies via criminal 'justice' process.”
“Politicians should stay out of prosecution,” she cautioned.
