MS NOW political commentator worries over what could happen if GOP loses midterms

MS NOW political commentator Ashley Pratte Oates warned massive Republican losses in November's midterm elections could create a "dangerous and volatile situation" as President Donald Trump consolidates executive power to compensate for lost congressional majorities.

Republicans enter the midterms with Trump's approval rating at 37 percent, among the lowest for an incumbent in recent elections, while Democrats have built momentum through victories in state races and special congressional elections.

Oates then emphasized Trump's preference for executive action over legislative negotiation.

According to Ballotpedia data, Trump has signed 258 executive orders during his second term, nearly equaling the total that former President Barack Obama signed during his entire eight-year presidency.

If Republicans lose control of the House and Senate, Oates suggested Trump would likely bypass legislative processes through expanded executive authority, potentially creating institutional instability and democratic concerns.
