Key Insights:

  • Vitalik Buterin is pausing regular blog posts to write science fiction stories on decentralized governance.
  • The Ethereum co-founder says the first two chapters of his governance-themed novel are already complete.
  • The project shifts Buterin’s governance ideas from technical essays into narrative fiction.

Ethereum news took an unusual turn after Vitalik Buterin said he plans to step back from regular long-form essays and focus on science fiction writing. The Ethereum co-founder intends to explore decentralized governance themes through narrative fiction rather than technical blog posts.

Buterin shared the update through his Farcaster account and confirmed that the first two chapters of the project were already complete.

Ethereum News: Buterin Shifts From Essays to Fiction

Vitalik Buterin now centers on a creative move rather than a protocol proposal. Buterin said through his Farcaster account that he plans to “try writing some science fiction stories on the theme of decentralized governance.” He also shared a link to an in-progress novel and noted that he has completed the first two chapters.

The move changes the format of his public thinking, not his connection to Ethereum. Buterin has spent years writing about scaling, account abstraction, governance, privacy, Layer 2 networks, and coordination problems. His essays often guided debate across Ethereum’s developer and research communities.

Now, he appears to be moving part of that work into fiction. Instead of explaining governance through formal blog posts, Buterin can use characters, imagined systems, and future societies to test similar questions. The subject remains close to Ethereum’s core debates, where decentralization, incentives, voting, and power distribution remain active concerns.

Earlier this month, Vitalik Buterin said the Ethereum Foundation would sell fewer ETH as it shifts toward a smaller, more focused structure. He added that the Foundation will prioritize long-term sustainability, security, privacy, decentralization, and censorship resistance.

Governance Ideas Move Into New Format

Vitalik Buterin has often focused on his role as one of Ethereum’s most visible thinkers. His blog posts have shaped how many builders discuss technical tradeoffs, social coordination, and protocol priorities. That influence came from the clarity and reach of his writing, even when he did not control Ethereum’s development process.

Science fiction gives Buterin a wider field for those ideas. Fiction can show how decentralized systems behave under pressure, including during disputes, funding conflicts, voter apathy, and crisis moments. These subjects already appear across crypto governance, especially in DAOs, Layer 2 systems, and public blockchain communities.

The shift also fits Ethereum’s broader position as a network with no single formal leader. Ethereum has core developers, researchers, client teams, app builders, validators, and community groups. Buterin’s writing has often served as an informal reference point across those groups.

However, Ethereum network still has major technical work ahead, including Fusaka and Glamsterdam. Research around zero-knowledge virtual machines and RISC-V integration also continues across the ecosystem.

Vitalik Buterin remains important to the Ethereum community since his public comments often reach far beyond developer circles. His fiction project may bring governance ideas to readers who would not read a technical roadmap or research post. That could include policymakers, founders, investors, and general readers interested in digital coordination.

The project also arrives as crypto governance faces harder tests. DAOs continue to manage treasuries, voting systems, legal risks, and low participation. Protocols also face pressure to upgrade without weakening decentralization. These questions can become easier to understand when shown through stories rather than technical language.

Ethereum Price Prediction: ETH Needs Key Breakouts

Ethereum price prediction now adds another layer to the wider Ethereum news cycle. ETH still needs to reclaim the 200-week simple moving average near $2,500 before bulls can argue that the long-term chart has improved. That level remains the first major test for buyers.

A stronger setup would require ETH crypto to break above the 50-week simple moving average near $3,100. Analyst Ali Charts identified those two levels as the key weekly triggers. Until ETH clears both zones, the chart still shows resistance above the current recovery attempt.

If ETH crypto moves above $3,100 with strong follow-through, traders may shift their attention to the next resistance at $3,335. A larger upside level near the prior cycle high, around $4,868, could only become relevant after several resistance areas are broken. On the downside, support remains near $1,562, with a deeper level around $1,069 if selling pressure returns.
