MAGA activist rages at one-time GOP mainstay's claim God will hand midterms to Republicans

Michele Bachmann's claim that God will hand Republicans the midterms if Donald Trump continues military action against Iran drew sharp rebuke Friday from an unlikely corner — a prominent America First conservative who once supported her presidential run.

Bachmann, the former Minnesota congresswoman and 2012 Republican presidential candidate, made the remarks in a video that quickly circulated online. "Trump and Netanyahu were appointed for this task, destined for this task," she said. "This is a biblical moment. If Trump takes care of Iran, God will deliver the midterms and the Israeli elections."

David Pyne, who runs the America First Conservative account on X, was not having it. "Wow. I can't believe I supported former Rep. Michelle Bachmann for President in 2012," he wrote, describing her as a "total Israel First whack job" who has become "beyond delusional."

Pyne, who opposes U.S. military involvement in the region, called the Iran conflict an "illegal, unconstitutional, unprovoked war of aggression" and argued that tying it to divine intervention or electoral politics was a sign of how far Bachmann had drifted from the nationalist wing of the party he identifies with.

He also predicted the political fallout would be severe for Republicans. "Sadly, the Democrats will likely ride popular discontent against Trump's Deep State war for Israel against Iran and the massive financial distress it is causing working Americans to take back both Houses of Congress in November," Pyne wrote.

Bachmann has long been a fixture of the Christian nationalist wing of the Republican Party and has remained a vocal Trump supporter.
