IPOH: The education ministry is investigating claims of a Rohingya community school in Kampung Ladang Titian, Kuala Terengganu, deputy education minister Wong Kah Woh said today.
He said schools in the country are established according to provisions in the Education Act and cannot operate without official approval.
“All schools are subject to the Education Act and absolutely none can be established without approval.
“We will monitor the situation in Terengganu and take appropriate action,” he told reporters after attending the SMJK Ave Maria Convent academic excellence ceremony here.
Wong was responding to media reports yesterday that a suspected Rohingya community school had sparked concern and unease among Kuala Terengganu residents since February.
Wong said the ministry constantly monitors compliance to ensure that all educational institutions operate within the law.
