Blu Girls to train in Japan
THE PHILIPPINE Blu Girls have set their sights on training in Japan as part of its preparation for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Group Stage slated July 14 to 18 in Lima, Peru.
It was made known on Wednesday following the team’s courtesy call with Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines and sponsor Cebuana Lhuillier President Jean Henri Lhuillier.
The international training is just fitting considering that Japan is nearer and is currently the world’s highest ranked women’s softball country ahead of another powerhouse in the United States itself.
Interestingly, the Filipinas, ranked No. 13, are bracketed with the dreaded Japanese in Group C along with the No. 3 Puerto Ricans, the Britons, the Venezuelans and the host Peruvians. — Joey Villar
