Muda president Amira Aisya Abdul Aziz said her party has completed its list of candidates for the Johor polls, with women making up around 50%.
PETALING JAYA: Muda has a good relationship with Bersatu in Johor, but discussions on a possible election pact for the state polls remain inconclusive.
Muda president Amira Aisya Abdul Aziz said her party had started talks on cooperation with all opposition parties but no final decision had been reached, except for its pact with Parti Sosialis Malaya under the “progressive bloc”.
“Furthermore, we are not even certain about the current status of Perikatan Nasional.
“What I can share is that Muda has a good relationship with Bersatu in Johor,” she told reporters today.
Amira, who was Puteri Wangsa assemblyman prior to the Johor assembly’s dissolution, said potential partners would have to share Muda’s policy priorities.
“The most important thing before we finalise cooperation is whether the other parties are committed to promoting progressive policies. We need to settle that first before deciding on anything else.”
Amira also urged opposition parties to conclude their negotiations soon so they can shift their focus to policy issues on the campaign trail.
She said Muda had decided on the number of seats it would contest in Johor, and its list of candidates was complete.
“We will announce our candidates in the near future. I do not want to get ahead of the plans that have been made,” she said, adding that around 50% of Muda’s candidates are women.
The Johor polls will be held on July 11.
