10-year wait over as Hakim Danish wins first Moto3 race

PETALING JAYA: Moto3 rider Hakim Danish Ramli ended Malaysia’s 10-year wait for a Moto3 winner after clinching the Czechia GP today.

The victory marks the biggest achievement of the 19-year-old’s career and his second podium of the season after finishing third at the Italian GP in Mugello last month, Harian Metro reported.

Even more impressive, the win came through an extraordinary comeback after Hakim Danish overcame a grid penalty that saw him start from 14th position at the Brno Circuit.

“This victory is for all the Malaysians who have always supported me.

“Even though I started from 14th, I was still determined to try my best. I just wanted to stay focused on the race and keep pushing forward,” he said.

The win cements Hakim Danish’s reputation as one of the most promising young riders in this season’s Moto3 competition after eight rounds of racing.

Khairul Idham Pawi was the last Malaysian to win a Moto3 race when he claimed the title at the German GP in 2016.
