Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin asked what logo other PN candidates would use if candidates from the party used its logo in the upcoming elections.
PETALING JAYA: Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin has reiterated that the party will remain part of Perikatan Nasional (PN), ahead of a coalition meeting to discuss membership-related matters later today.
He also maintained that Bersatu would contest under the PN banner at the upcoming elections in Johor and Negeri Sembilan.
“There are those who question if we are part of PN. I would like to make it clear: we will remain in PN forever,” he said at the launch of the party’s election machinery in Johor last night.
Muhyiddin said last week that the party would remain in PN, citing the coalition’s reputation.
This came after PAS, PN’s most dominant party, ended its political cooperation with Bersatu on June 8.
Bersatu subsequently pledged to go all-out against PAS in the two state elections, insisting it would contest under the PN banner.
Yesterday, PN secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan sent a notice calling for an emergency meeting, with membership issues listed as the main agenda.
Other matters expected to be discussed are the state elections and the use of the coalition’s logo.
Last night, Muhyiddin also responded to calls for Bersatu to contest using its own logo.
“If we are forced to use the Bersatu logo, what logo will the other candidates (in PN) use? Until now, there has been no discussion about it,” he said.
