PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) last night ordered six eateries around Jalan Alor in Bukit Bintang to shut down over poor hygiene standards.

The outlets were among 45 premises inspected during a joint raid with the health ministry.

In a statement, DBKL said it also issued 74 notices and compounds for offences related to licensing, food handling regulations, and smoking at these eateries.

“The operation was aimed at ensuring food hygiene, safety, and licensing compliance remain at the required level,” it said.

DBKL said the eateries were penalised for various offences, including dirty kitchens, missing or faulty grease traps, cockroach and rat infestations, improper food storage, workers without typhoid vaccinations or food handling training, and breaches of smoking bans.
