KUCHING, June 28 — A total of 44 individuals from six families were left homeless after a fire razed their houses at Tabuan Hilir here in the early hours today.
Firefighters from Tabuan Jaya, Padungan and Batu Lintang fire stations were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at around 3.41am.
“The fire involved seven houses, six of which were completely destroyed, while one sustained slight damage. The blaze also completely destroyed three motorcycles.
“A total of 44 victims from six families were affected, comprising 20 men, 15 women, and nine children. No casualties were reported,” the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said.
Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control at 4.44am, and the operation ended at 7.08am. —The Borneo Post
