'Disappointed' Megyn Kelly drops the hammer: 'The Trump family is grifty'

Although right-wing SirusXM host Megyn Kelly was an aggressive defender of U.S. Donald Trump during the United States' 2024 presidential election, she has been criticizing him more often in recent months. And during an appearance on conservative Sky News Australia, she was highly critical of Trump and his sons for being "so grifty" finding a variety of ways to profit from his presidency.

"I don't feel great about our leaders, I'm not gonna lie," Kelly told Sky News Australia.

"I'm disappointed with some aspects of the Trump presidency for sure, like the Iran war. That's number one. It's so grifty. I'm not gonna lie, it's grifty. You know, the Trump family is grifty. There's been like story after story about all the money that his sons are making off of the government — these government contracts they're getting, all that. I can't stand that stuff, and I love his sons, OK? So, I say this as a true fan of theirs, but I didn't like it when Hunter Biden was doing it, and I don't like it when the Trumps are doing it."

Kelly added, "But having said all that, it's a binary system. There's no question that Trump is reams better than that lunatic Kamala Harris would have been."

During the segment, Kelly — a former Fox News host — was vehemently critical of the U.S. Supreme Court for upholding birthright citizenship in a bombshell ruling issued at the end of June.

Trump, early in his presidency, issued an executive order declaring birthright citizenship illegal. But the High Court struck down that order as unconstitutional, as birthright citizenship is guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution's 14th Amendment. The majority consisted of three Democratic appointees — Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson — along with two GOP appointees: Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Amy Coney Barrett (Trump's third High Court appointee).

Kelly said of Trump, "The birthright citizenship — at least he tried. At least he tried. No one else tried. Trump did close the border; that counts for a lot. We're not deporting everybody, but we got some…. You know, you can't put too much stock in any one politician is one of the lessons here. The system, the blob, kind of moves them where it wants to move them."
