Passenger safely rescued after falling onto Hang Tuah LRT tracks, services resume within 16 minutes (VIDEO)

KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 — A passenger was rescued after allegedly fainting and falling onto the tracks at Rapid KL’s Hang Tuah LRT station yesterday evening, prompting a brief suspension of train services on the Ampang and Sri Petaling lines.

In a statement issued last night, Rapid KL said the incident occurred at 6.36pm at Hang Tuah station, where the passenger was believed to have fainted before losing balance and falling onto the tracks.

Auxiliary Police personnel stationed on the platform responded immediately to provide initial assistance, while power to the tracks was temporarily cut to allow rescue operations to be carried out safely.

“The passenger was successfully brought out of the track area safely before being given initial treatment in the station’s emergency room,” the operator said.

Rapid KL said safety inspections were conducted after the rescue, and train services on the Ampang and Sri Petaling lines resumed normal operations at 6.52pm, about 16 minutes after the incident.

The rail operator did not disclose the passenger’s identity, condition or whether the individual was taken to hospital.

Rapid KL said passenger safety remained its highest priority and reminded commuters to observe station safety rules.

It urged passengers to remain behind the safety line while waiting for trains and not to enter the track area under any circumstances.

The operator also advised anyone who feels unwell, dizzy or uncomfortable while at a station to seek immediate assistance from station staff or Auxiliary Police officers “so that prompt assistance can be provided”.
