PETALING JAYA: PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh has urged the public not to confuse the personal manifestos unveiled by Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Perling and Skudai candidates with the coalition’s official manifesto.
She said the official manifesto would outline PH’s overall policies and direction if it forms the state government, rather than individual constituency-level promises.
“For example, if candidates say they want to solve the problem of garbage collection, that is not part of the manifesto. That is their personal commitment to aid the people of the seats they seek to represent.
“It is not part of the broader policies under the state government,” Sinar Harian reported her as saying in Johor Bahru today.
Yesterday, PH’s Perling and Skudai candidates, Alan Tee and Kartiyaini Jeyapalan, unveiled their personal campaign manifestos ahead of the coalition’s official manifesto launch tomorrow.
They said their manifestos focused on local issues in the constituencies, including a proposed parking complex for Malaysians working in Singapore, as well as measures to empower local businesses and develop youth talent.
Johor Barisan Nasional Youth chief Noor Azleen Ambros later criticised the duo, saying PH was not ready to govern the state if its candidates chose to announce their personal manifestos before the launch of the official one.
He said Tee and Kartiyaini’s actions made PH appear as though its leaders had failed to coordinate the direction of its Johor campaign.
Noor Azleen also said PH’s delay in unveiling its manifesto had forced the two candidates to act on their own.
“This is not something that should happen with a political coalition that claims it is ready to take the reins of the state administration,” he said.
