Elementera AI Inc., a company focused on helping brands maintain visibility in AI-driven search and answer engines, announced a new angel investment from a Principal AI Scientist at Amazon who specializes in large language model research. The investment underscores the growing importance of answer engine optimization (AEO) as users shift from traditional search queries to interacting with AI systems like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.
The Amazon scientist, who has tracked Elementera Co-founder and CEO Maziar Gomrokchi’s work since his PhD research, cited the technical strength of the founding team and the strategic timing of the investment. ‘Elementera is one of the few companies truly built for this moment,’ the investor said. ‘The team combines deep AI research experience with a clear understanding of where search, discovery, and brand visibility are heading. I believe their Lenz and Prizm products are positioned to play a leading role in the AI visibility market over the next three to five years.’
Gomrokchi traces Elementera’s origins to a 2016 conference that shaped his vision for AI’s impact on search and discovery. At ICML 2016 in New York’s Times Square, he observed major tech companies recruiting researchers and received job offers, including one from OpenAI, then a small team. ‘Looking back, that early work was a preview of what later became models like GPT and ChatGPT,’ Gomrokchi said. He recognized that AI would fundamentally change how people search, compare, and make purchasing decisions, leading him to assemble a team of AI researchers and engineers to build tools for the new landscape.
Elementera’s product suite includes Lenz and Prizm, designed to help businesses understand and improve how they are interpreted, described, and cited across AI answer engines. As more users rely on generative AI for information, the need for brands to optimize for these platforms becomes critical. The investment from a top AI researcher at Amazon lends credibility to Elementera’s approach and signals that major tech players see value in AEO.
Founded by veterans from Microsoft, Shopify, IBM, Mila, and UC Berkeley, Elementera is headquartered in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, with operations in Vancouver. The company focuses on the transition from traditional search engine optimization (SEO) to generative engine optimization (GEO), a shift that Gomrokchi believes will define the next era of digital marketing. ‘That belief is what Elementera is built on,’ he said. ‘We put together a team of AI researchers, engineers, and product leaders to build the tools businesses need to stay visible and trusted as AI-driven search and discovery takes over from traditional search.’
