PETALING JAYA: The Attorney-General’s Chambers has  classified the death of Kelantan tahfiz student Wan Ahmad Faris Wan Abdul Rahman in 2013 as requiring no further action (NFA).

Attorney-General Dusuki Mokhtar said the murder investigation by police failed to uncover any evidence linking any person with the death of Wan Faris, Harian Metro reported.

“Further investigations were held into the narrative furnished by the victim’s family. A total of 84 witnesses gave their statements and 45 DNA samples were analysed by the chemistry department.

“After studying the evidence obtained, the AGC is of the view that there is no evidence linking any person to the commission of an offence, particularly (murder) under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

“Therefore, the investigation paper has been classified as NFA,” Dusuki was quoted as saying in a July 3 letter to the lawyer representing Wan Faris’s family.

Wan Faris’s body was discovered by a dormitory supervisor in a toilet at the Maahad Tahfiz Sains Nurul Aman boarding school in Kok Lanas, Kelantan, on Dec 14, 2013.

A forensic pathologist who performed the autopsy initially classified the case as sudden death with no criminal elements.

However, in June 2016, the coroner’s court ruled that Wan Faris had been murdered by an unidentified person.
