THE Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) said it approved investment agreements with two new information technology-business process management (IT-BPM) companies.
PEZA registered Opscale Solutions, Inc. as a facility enterprise, it said in a social media post on Tuesday.
The company is investing P160 million to develop the critical infrastructure to support the operations of PEZA-registered locators, including Telephilippines, Inc.
Opscale Solutions provides built-to-suit IT facilities, technical infrastructure, and integrated facility management services.
PEZA also signed a supplemental agreement (SA) with Telephilippines for its P300-million expansion.
The company is looking to expand its call center operations to better serve its clients in the US, Europe, and the Caribbean, it added.
“Considering the continued expansion of the IT-BPM sector, these projects are expected to contribute positively to the growth and competitiveness of PEZA-registered enterprises,” PEZA said.
Telephilippines is a subsidiary of Teleperformance, a French business process outsourcing (BPO) company specializing in customer service, digital business services, and technical support.
Telephilippines opened in 1996 — one of the first BPOs in the country —and has expanded across Metro Manila, Baguio, Bacoor, Antipolo, Bacolod, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, and Davao.
Opscale is expected to generate 41 specialized technical roles, while Telephilippines is looking to hire 306 workers. Both companies are set to begin commercial operations by September.
“By pairing a world-class IT facilities provider like Opscale Solutions, Inc. with global BPO leaders like Telephilippines, Inc., we create greater value for investors, elevate our export service capabilities, and generate high-quality, sustainable job opportunities for the workforce,” PEZA Director-General Tereso O. Panga was quoted as saying.
The agreements for both companies were signed on June 29.
The IT-BPM industry is being pushed to scale and keep up with the artificial intelligence-driven global workforce.
The industry is projected to raise $42 billion in revenue and employ 1.97 million in 2026. Revenue is expected to hit $59 billion with staffing at 2.5 million by 2028, according to the IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines. — Beatriz Marie D. Cruz
