Seeing Taylor Swift’s name on top of a Billboard chart is less than surprising — especially at this moment. The singer-songwriter is riding high off the success of her blockbuster album The Life of a Showgirl and lead single “The Fate of Ophelia.” Both titles debuted at No. 1 on their respective rankings and have not budged ever since.

What’s special about the superstar’s current performance is in the details. It’s not necessarily notable that Swift appears at No. 1, but what is worth reporting is the fact that she debuted in first place and has spent a historically-long stretch of time ruling the two most competitive Billboard charts in the largest music market in the world.

The Life of a Showgirl and “The Fate of Ophelia” Hold at No. 1

Both The Life of a Showgirl and “The Fate of Ophelia” have now spent four consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and Hot 100, respectively. They have not vacated the penthouse on either roster since debuting there a month ago, and Billboard reports that Swift is the first musician to manage that specific feat.

What Are Taylor Swift’s Longest-Running No. 1 Songs?

With four weeks at No. 1 to its credit, “The Fate of Ophelia” is tied with two other tunes within Swift’s discography as her third-longest-running leader ever. At the moment, it’s on the same level as both “Cruel Summer” and “Shake It Off,” and it comes in behind “Anti-Hero” and “Blank Space.” Those latter two smashes ruled for eight and seven frames, respectively.

What Are Taylor Swift’s Longest-Running No. 1 Albums?

The Life of a Showgirl will have to hold on for several more weeks before it ranks as one of Swift’s most successful No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200. The Tortured Poets Department, which preceded her most recent project by more than a year, racked up 17 stays on the throne. It is one of three titles by Swift, including 1989 and Fearless, that managed double-digit turns atop the tally. Both of those bestsellers held on for 11 frames.

The Life of a Showgirl is now on the same level as Evermore and Reputation, right in the middle of her catalog in terms of the most time spent at No. 1, but it could continue to reign for several more weeks, if not months.

The Life of a Showgirl Begins Its Descent on a Few Charts

TOPSHOT – Taylor Swift fans listen to a song during a listening event for Swift’s new album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ at the Astor Theatre in Melbourne on October 3, 2025. Swift on October 3 dropped her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” a collection of bouncy pop songs about love, marriage, success — and score-settling. For the hotly anticipated album, the 35-year-old artist reunited with Swedish hitmakers Max Martin and Shellback, and their influence is clear in the driving beats and catchy hooks. While The Life of a Showgirl remains the most consumed full-length in America, its descent has begun on several other charts. The project leads both the Billboard 200 and Top Streaming Albums ranking, but no longer commands either the Top Album Sales or Vinyl Albums rosters. This frame, Swift settles into third place on those two lists, slipping from the peak on the list that tracks only actual purchases.

“The Fate of Ophelia” Dominates Multiple Billboard Lists

Meanwhile, “The Fate of Ophelia” continues to perform spectacularly across a number of Billboard rosters. In addition to the Hot 100, the lead focus track from The Life of a Showgirl also holds at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales tallies. The tune is comfortable at its all-time high on both the Pop Airplay and Radio Songs charts, where it appears at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively. At the same time, the smash climbs to a new peak on the Adult Pop Airplay list, improving one space to No. 3, while simultaneously debuting at No. 39 on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay roster.

Taylor Swift May Soon Make History Again

There’s a very good chance that both Swift’s album and song will continue to lead their respective charts when Billboard refreshes its rankings in a few days. The Life of a Showgirl doesn’t appear to face any serious competition for the highest rung on the Billboard 200, while sales of “The Fate of Ophelia” — including multiple additional versions, which are all grouped together for charting purposes — will likely ensure that it remains the No. 1 tune in the country again. If that turns out to be the case, Swift will become the first musician to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 at the same time and hold there for five consecutive frames.
