The biblical series House of David wraps up its second season on Sunday with its eighth episode. For viewers looking for another season of the hit series, one of its creators has some positive news to share.
The logline for the series overall reads, “House of David tells the story of the ascent of the biblical figure, David, who eventually becomes the most renowned and celebrated king of Israel.”
House of David kicked off its first season in February with the first three of eight episodes on Prime Video. According to Prime Video, House of David Season 1 attracted more than 40 million viewers worldwide and reached No. 1 on the streaming platform’s viewing chart. Season 2 premiered with the first two of its eight episodes in October on the Wonder Project app, which is available exclusively through Prime Video.
Created by Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn, House of David Season 2 stars Michael Iskander as David, Ali Suliman as King Saul, Ayelet Zurer as Queen Ahinoam and Stephen Lang as Samuel.
‘House Of David’ Co-Creator Says He Always Planned For The Series To Be A Trilogy
The viewership numbers for House of David Season 2 have not yet been released by The Wonder Project, nor has the streaming service given any indication whether the series will be back for a third season.
Until an official announcement for a third season of House of David is made, series co-creator Jon Erwin is intent on continuing the story of David for another season.
“There’s a lot to that guy’s life,” Erwin said in a Season 2 red carpet interview posted on his Instagram page. “I would say there’s three seasons — this season and the next— that conclude the rise of David, the young story, and there’s the later part of his life.
“So, I’ve always considered what we’re doing a trilogy and Season 2 is the middle of that trilogy — and Season 3 will continue the rise of that character, and that will get you to the later part of his life,” Erwin added. “But there’s lots of stories to tell. He lived an epic life.”
All eight episodes of House of David Season 1 are streaming on Prime Video, while all eight episodes of House of David Season 2 are streaming on The Wonder Project app available through Prime Video.
