Crypto M&A Deals Forecast To Exceed Record 37 Billion Dollars In 2026

TLDR

  • Public crypto M&A volume surged sevenfold in 2025 to reach 37 billion dollars.
  • Total crypto M&A transactions rose 74 percent year on year to 356 deals.
  • Stablecoins and payments are top acquisition targets for traditional finance firms
  • More companies are buying crypto firms instead of building capabilities internally.

Crypto dealmaking is set for another strong year as consolidation trends continue across digital assets. After a sharp rebound in 2025, industry data points to even higher activity ahead.
Market analysts now expect crypto mergers and acquisitions to break previous records in 2026.

Stablecoins and payments are drawing special attention from buyers across traditional finance. The shift reflects growing institutional interest and clearer operating paths for regulated crypto services. Crypto M&A Transactions Expected to Surpass Record $37 Billion in 2026 remains the dominant outlook.

Crypto M&A volumes surged sharply in 2025

Publicly disclosed crypto M&A activity rose sharply in 2025, according to data from Architect Partners. Transaction volume reached $37 billion, marking a sevenfold increase from the previous year. Analysts had earlier projected total volumes closer to $30 billion for the year.

The number of completed deals also expanded at a rapid pace. Total transactions rose 74% year on year to 356 announced deals. Among these, 39 transactions exceeded $100 million in value. Seventeen deals were valued above $500 million, showing larger deal sizes.

Expectations point to higher volumes in 2026

Market observers now expect crypto M&A transactions to exceed the $37 billion record in 2026.
The projection reflects continued consolidation across exchanges, infrastructure firms, and service providers. Buyers are seeking faster entry into regulated crypto markets through acquisitions.

Karl-Martin Ahrend, co-founder of crypto M&A advisory firm Areta, addressed the outlook for 2026. He said, “Transaction activity will depend on regulatory clarity, interest rates, risk appetite, and valuation attractiveness.” His remarks suggest that macro conditions will shape the pace of future deals.

Stablecoins and payments attract traditional finance

Stablecoins and payment-related firms have become central targets in crypto M&A discussions. Traditional financial institutions are showing increased interest in these segments. These areas offer clearer revenue models and closer links to existing financial systems.

Reports note that stablecoins support faster settlement and cross-border transfers. Payment platforms also allow banks and fintech firms to expand digital offerings. As a result, these businesses are seen as strategic entry points into crypto markets.

Acquisitions favored over internal development

The report also points to a shift in how companies build crypto capabilities. More traditional firms are expected to acquire existing crypto businesses. Building similar systems internally is viewed as slower and more costly.

Acquisitions provide immediate access to licenses, technology, and experienced teams. They also reduce development risks tied to compliance and security standards. This trend supports expectations that Crypto M&A Transactions Expected to Surpass Record $37 Billion in 2026.

As consolidation continues, deal flow is likely to remain concentrated among regulated sectors. Stablecoins, payments, custody, and infrastructure remain key areas of focus. Market data suggests these trends will define crypto M&A activity throughout 2026.

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…

SUI Price Eyes Breakout, Targets $11 Says Analyst

The post SUI Price Eyes Breakout, Targets $11 Says Analyst appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. SUI price shows a technical setup for a macro breakout with analyst Dan Gambardello targeting $10-$11 levels. Recent partnership with Google’s Agentic Payments Protocol adds fundamental support to the technical analysis as SUI moves closer to potential breakout levels. SUI Price Analysis Points to $10-$11 Breakout Target Dan Gambardello has identified a clear ascending triangle formation on SUI price daily chart with upside targets around $10.79. The analyst simplified this target range to $10-$11 for practical trading purposes. The pattern shows sustained higher lows meeting resistance at current levels before a potential breakout. VanEck maintains more aggressive SUI crypto targets ranging from $13-$25 according to Gambardello’s research. SUI Price Analysis | Source: Dan Gambardello, X The $10 level is a more conservative higher high area for the current cycle. Midterm targets point to $7.50 in the 1.618 Fibonacci extension zone before longer-term objectives. The monthly RSI shows extreme compression that Gambardello describes as “screaming for a macro breakout to the upside.” This momentum oscillator behavior typically precedes major price movements in the crypto market. SUI crypto risk model currently sits at 51 and matches pre-bull market levels seen in coins like Ethereum. Gambardello compared this to Ethereum’s December 2020 reading of 51 before its major breakout. The March 2017 Ethereum reading of 53 preceded that cycle’s parabolic move. The analyst also noted that SUI price trades near the same levels from almost a year ago in November 2024. Bollinger Bands Signal Historic Compression CryptoBullet has identified the tightest Bollinger Bands in SUI’s entire trading history on the weekly chart. The BBW indicator compression reached levels that were historically followed by major price movements. This setup mirrors conditions before SUI’s previous major rallies. Historical data shows SUI price delivered +253% gains between December 2023 and March 2024 following similar compression. SUI…
