Linkin Park faced intimidating expectations when the group released its sophomore album Meteora in the spring of 2003. Fans around the world had waited years for the band to deliver a follow-up to Hybrid Theory, which made the rockers the hottest thing in the genre to come around in a long, long time. The group had helped bring nu-metal to the masses and dominated charts with songs like “One Step Closer,” “Crawling,” and “In the End,” which, decades later, remains Linkin Park’s most familiar tune.
The Grammy-winning outfit kicked off its campaign to promote Meteora with lead single “Somewhere I Belong,” which arrived just a month before the full-length dropped. That song debuts on a Billboard chart this week, and its surprise arrival demonstrates that people all around the world are not only still listening to Linkin Park, but focusing their streaming and buying on some of the act’s earliest tracks.
“Somewhere I Belong” Debuts on the Billboard Global 200
“Somewhere I Belong” launches on the Billboard Global 200 this week, opening at No. 193. The tally, introduced by Billboard more than half a decade ago, lists the top-performing songs all around the planet. Its methodology includes both sales and streaming data, and the roster paints a picture of what the human race is listening to during any given tracking period.
Linkin Park Scores Another Worldwide Hit
Linkin Park earns its eighteenth hit on the Billboard Global 200 as “Somewhere I Belong” arrives. The track is the first from the band to launch on the list in a little less than a year, as “Up From the Bottom,” featured on the deluxe edition of the band’s From Zero, opened at No. 58 in April 2025. That single only managed one frame before disappearing.
“Somewhere I Belong” Sets a New Low Point for Linkin Park
The fact that “Somewhere I Belong” finally reaches the Billboard Global 200 is reason for Linkin Park to celebrate, although No. 193 is not a very impressive position. In fact, “Somewhere I Belong” now ranks as the group’s lowest-peaking cut, grabbing that distinction from “One Step Closer,” which only ever lifted to No. 184.
“In the End” and “Numb” Climb on the Global Ranking
Linkin Park fills three rungs on the Billboard Global 200 this time around, as both “In the End” and “Numb” climb more than 20 spaces from where they sat last time around. This week, those smashes – counted among Linkin Park’s most famous – settle at Nos. 78 and 124, respectively.
“In the End” and “Numb” Live on Both Worldwide Charts
While “Somewhere I Belong” only manages to take up space on the Billboard Global 200, “In the End” and “Numb” can also be found on the Billboard Global Excl U.S. That list is very similar to the Billboard Global 200, except sales and streams from American music lovers are not factored into where a title lands, or if it appears at all. “In the End” sits at No. 84, while “Numb” improves 25 spaces and makes a home at No. 135 this week.
“Somewhere I Belong” Hits a New Streaming Chart High
As “Somewhere I Belong” debuts on the worldwide roster, the same smash reaches a new peak position on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart, a detailed look at the most successful hard rock cuts on platforms like Spotify in the U.S. This time around, “Somewhere I Belong” lifts just one spot to No. 8, hitting its newly-established high 26 weeks (half a year) into its time on the tally.
Linkin Park Scores a Trio of Wins on the Hard Rock List
Linkin Park fills three spaces on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart this week. “In the End” misses out on another turn at No. 1, as it holds in second place, while “Numb” sits just ahead of “Somewhere I Belong,” pushing from No. 8 to No. 7.
