Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. broke his silence on topics such as being booed in the Bernabeu, Xabi Alonso’s dismissal and his contract renewal in a TNT Sport Brasil interview that followed Tuesday’s rousing 6-1 win over AS Monaco in the Champions League.

Vinicius scored and was the MVP of the match, but the mood was far different on Saturday when he was heavily booed by the home support before and during a 2-0 victory against Levante in La Liga.

Asked about that reception at the weekend, which reportedly pushed him to want to leave the club, Vinicius admitted to TNT Sport Brasil: “It made me very sad.”

“I don’t want to be booed at home, where I feel very comfortable. And in the last few games I didn’t feel comfortable because whenever I played badly, whenever I did something wrong, I was booed.

“But they have their right. They pay a very expensive entrance fee for this. I don’t understand it, but I’m here to continue evolving and always fighting for this team and for this club that has given me so much,” Vinicius added, gratefully.

Vinicius doesn’t want to shoulder the blame for Real Madrid firing Xabi Alonso

It is thought by some that players such as Vinicius, Fede Valverde and Jude Bellingham were booed because they are perceived to have played some part in Xabi Alonso being fired last week, but the Brazilian protested that he “can’t do anything” in such situations.

“The only thing I can do on the pitch is come in and give my all. I won’t always be at my best technical level, but I’ve always given everything for the team, I’ve always done everything I can to make everyone feel comfortable. When others lack goals, I try to assist; When I have to defend, I try to defend,” Vinicius protested.

“Of course, I’m not the best defender on the team; there are other players for that. But the press says what they want, the fans think and understand that they have to criticise me, but I think the best way to improve is to go home and be welcomed by the people here at the Bernabeu with the best fans in the world, as I have always said, who demand a lot from the players,” Vinicius said.

The Ballon d’Or runner up accepts that he has “to be at my best at all times”, and also explained that the past year has been difficult for him “because I haven’t been able to play the way I want”.

“But it’s always important to keep going because I want to stay here for a long time,” he concluded on this, which naturally drew a question about the renewal of his contract, which expires in mid-2027.

Vinicius indicated he is willing to renew his Real Madrid contract

“There’s also a lot of talk about the renewal of my contract, but I have one more year left,” Vinicius said when probed on one of football’s hottest topics.

“We are very calm about it. I trust the president, he trusts me, we have a very good relationship and, in due course, we will solve things; we are not in a hurry,” Vinicius insisted.

Now a lot happier than he was less than a week ago, Vinicius will return to Real Madrid action away at Villarreal on Saturday in La Liga, where Los Blancos trail arch nemesis FC Barcelona by just a point at the summit.

(Photo by Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images) Getty Images Justin Bieber’s music career was essentially nonexistent for several years, and fans were beginning to wonder when they’d get to hear from the pop star again — until, out of nowhere, he revealed his new album Swag would drop in just a few hours. The full-length, which blended pop and R&B, arrived shortly thereafter in mid-July, and it brought him back to the highest reaches of several Billboard charts this summer. More recently, Bieber delivered a second installment, titled, appropriately, Swag II, which is counted together with Swag for charting purposes in the United States As he celebrates songs from Swag II and the continued success of multiple tracks from the first edition, his first leader on the Hot 100 turns 10. “What Do You Mean?” Debuted at No. 1 “What Do You Mean?” debuted at No. 1 a decade ago, opening atop the Hot 100 on the chart dated September 19, 2015. The cut was not only Bieber’s first to start in first place, but — amazingly — his first ruler on the most competitive songs ranking in America. Justin Bieber Was a Superstar Without a No. 1 By the time “What Do You Mean?” arrived, Bieber was already one of the biggest pop stars on the planet. He’d racked up multiple hits in America, but he had never managed to lead the Hot 100. The Canadian musician had come…
