  • Ledn earned the first-ever investment-grade rating for a Bitcoin-backed ABS from S&P Global.
  • The $188M offering was 2x oversubscribed, showing strong institutional appetite for crypto debt.
  • Ledn’s loan book survived every Bitcoin bear market since 2018, including the 2022 credit crisis.

The crypto lending world has hit a major milestone. Ledn has closed a $188 million asset-backed security tied to its Bitcoin-collateralized loan portfolio.

Standard and Poor’s assigned the senior notes a BBB- investment-grade rating. This is the first time a major global rating agency has done this for any digital asset lending portfolio. Besides, the deal was also two times oversubscribed, with institutional demand surpassing the offering size.

Ledn Becomes the First Crypto Firm to Earn an Investment-Grade ABS Rating

This is not a small win. In traditional finance, an investment-grade rating signals strict credit quality, structural strength, and reliable payment history.

Ledn is the first crypto-native company to hit this benchmark. S&P evaluated the company’s loan book using the same frameworks applied to auto loans and mortgages.

The result confirmed that Ledn’s operations meet the standards of global institutional finance.

The firm shared the news on its official blog, noting that the rating reflects eight years of building what it calls a resilient lending platform. Ledn says the process involved an intensive review of its risk management systems, custody standards, and technology infrastructure.

What the S&P Rating Means for Bitcoin-Backed Lending

The rating opens a door the crypto industry has long been unable to access.

Conservative institutional investors, including pension funds and insurance companies, tend to require independent credit validation before committing capital. Ledn’s BBB- rating now gives those investors a credible benchmark to work with.

According to the company’s blog post, the ABS is backed by Ledn’s portfolio of Bitcoin-collateralized retail loans. The firm stressed that the rating does not change how they handle client collateral.

Borrower Bitcoin remains in custody, ring-fenced from funding partners, and cannot be lent out to generate interest.

A Direct Pipeline Between Bitcoin Holders and Institutional Capital

Ledn says this deal creates a new funding channel. By tapping the ABS market, the company is building what it describes as a direct pipeline between Bitcoin holders and institutional credit markets.

The firm believes this adds long-term stability to its liquidity base, independent of swings in the broader crypto market.

The oversubscription of the deal adds weight to that claim. Institutional demand exceeded $188 million, which signals strong appetite from traditional finance players.

Ledn posted about the milestone on social media platform X, calling it a historic moment for the digital asset industry.

How Ledn Built a Loan Book That Survived Every Bitcoin Cycle

The company has been operating since 2018. Its loan portfolio has lived through multiple Bitcoin bear markets, including the sharp 2022 credit crisis that wiped out several crypto lenders. Ledn says it maintained a clean record through each of those downturns.

That track record played a key role in the rating process. S&P’s evaluation stressed-tested the portfolio across market cycles, not just current conditions.

For Ledn, the rating is also a signal to the broader industry about what responsible Bitcoin-backed lending should look like.

SEC approves new listing standards paving way for crypto ETFs on Nasdaq, Cboe, and NYSE

The post SEC approves new listing standards paving way for crypto ETFs on Nasdaq, Cboe, and NYSE appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Key Takeaways The SEC has approved standardized listing rules for commodity-based trust shares. Nasdaq, Cboe, and NYSE can now list these products without individual SEC applications per product. The Securities and Exchange Commission approved generic listing standards for commodity-based trust shares on Nasdaq, Cboe and the New York Stock Exchange. The approval allows these exchanges to list shares of commodity-based trusts under standardized criteria rather than requiring individual applications for each product. The new framework applies to trust structures that hold physical commodities or commodity-related investments. This newly approved standard paves the way for formal listing rules for crypto exchange-traded funds, quickly setting the stage for these products to be prepared for public trading.
