TRON DAO expands TRON Academy initiative with Dartmouth, Princeton, Oxford, and Cambridge

Geneva, Switzerland, February 25, 2026TRON DAO, the community-governed DAO dedicated to accelerating the decentralization of the internet through blockchain technology and decentralized applications (dApps), today announced expanded university collaborations through its TRON Academy initiative with leading academic institutions, including Dartmouth College, Oxford University, Cambridge University, and Princeton University. These institutions extend TRON DAO’s academic network, which already includes top-tier universities such as Columbia, Harvard, Yale University, MIT, Cornell University, Imperial College London, and the University of California, Berkeley.

TRON Academy is a global initiative that empowers students to explore blockchain development through rewards, technical resources, mentorship, and hands-on learning opportunities. The initiative works directly with student-led blockchain organizations at each university, representing active communities of over 100 to more than 2,500 members supporting the development of future Web3 talent. By connecting academic study with real-world application, the program enables student organizations to build practical skills and contribute to the broader decentralized ecosystem.

For the 2025–2026 academic year, TRON Academy has formalized collaborations with Dartmouth Blockchain, Princeton Blockchain Club, Oxford Blockchain Society, and Cambridge Blockchain Society. These collaborations will support workshops, educational events, and career engagement opportunities designed to strengthen blockchain literacy and developer readiness through both in-person and hybrid programming.

TRON Academy reflects a broader shift toward the formal integration of blockchain and AI within leading universities, as students increasingly pursue career paths aligned with emerging digital infrastructure. By engaging leading academic institutions, TRON DAO is helping equip the next generation with the technical skills and practical exposure needed to build in decentralized systems, tokenized finance, and AI-enabled applications, areas expected to shape the future of global digital infrastructure.

From supporting academic research to hosting global builder programs, TRON DAO continues to connect emerging talent with practical development opportunities. TRON Academy builds on this commitment by providing students with access to rewards, mentorship, and technical resources needed to develop scalable blockchain solutions and contribute meaningfully to the decentralized ecosystem. The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…
