PANews reported on February 26 that Gate announced its Malta subsidiary, Gate Technology Ltd, has officially received a Payment Institution (PI) license from the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) under the EU's Payment Services Directive, Version 2 (PSD2). This license makes Gate one of the few crypto-native companies in Europe to receive such regulatory approval, laying the foundation for providing compliant stablecoin and payment services across the EU.
Giovanni Cunti, CEO of Gate Technology Ltd., stated that this license will support the company in building a secure bridge between traditional finance and Web3, providing clear regulatory protection for institutional and retail users. Previously, Gate had already obtained a full MiCA license for exchange and custody services.

With its PSD2 license, Gate is expanding its payment services across the EU, leveraging the EU's compliance mechanism. This move demonstrates Gate's commitment to compliance and regulatory transparency, and further promotes its innovation and development in the European digital asset financial infrastructure sector.
Gate consistently ranks among the industry leaders in compliance strategy and investment. Multiple entities under its umbrella have obtained or completed relevant regulatory registrations, license applications, authorizations, or approvals in jurisdictions such as Malta, the Bahamas, Japan, Australia, and Dubai. Furthermore, Gate US holds 33 state-level licenses in the United States, covering 45 U.S. jurisdictions. The platform will continue to solidify its global stability and development through a high-standard compliance system.
