The Pi Core Team has issued a final reminder to all Node operators: the required v0.5.x software update must be completed by March 1, 2026.

This upgrade is essential for the network’s planned transition to its Open Mainnet phase.

Mandatory Update or Node Status Revoked

Nodes running older versions (v0.4.x or earlier) will be disconnected from the Testnet if they fail to upgrade before the deadline. Operators who do not update will also lose their official “Node” designation within the ecosystem.

Additionally, only Nodes running the updated version will remain eligible for the Node Mining Bonus. Any Node that fails to comply will immediately stop receiving these additional rewards.

Technical Changes in v0.5.x

The update integrates optimized protocols aligned with Stellar Core v20. As part of this transition, Nodes must resynchronize with the latest blockchain state to ensure continued compatibility with the network’s consensus system.

This resync process is required to maintain proper participation once the Open Mainnet phase begins.

Preparing for Open Mainnet

The March 1 deadline is part of Pi Network’s broader roadmap to remove its current “firewall” restrictions, which limit external connectivity.

To successfully enter Open Mainnet, the network requires a stable and decentralized backbone composed of fully synchronized, high-performing Nodes.

What Node Operators Should Verify

Operators should confirm their Pi Node software shows version v0.5.0 or higher. They must also ensure that the latest version of Docker Desktop is running and that the “Consensus Container” is active.

Finally, ports 31400 through 31409 must remain open to maintain peer connectivity and uninterrupted participation in the network.

With the Open Mainnet transition approaching, this update represents a critical infrastructure milestone for the Pi ecosystem.
