Wikipedia Co-Founder Jimmy Wales Says BTC Price is Never Going to Zero

  • Jimmy Wales believes that the BTC price may not go to zero.
  • Wikipedia co-founder has called bitcoin a complete failure as a currency.
  • BTC is currently down by 1.02% over the last 24 hours.

Jimmy Wales, Co-Founder of Wikipedia, has weighed in with his opinion about the BTC price ever reaching zero. He has also expressed his stand on Bitcoin tokens as currencies while further clarifying his statements through responses to community comments. The flagship crypto continues to trade below the $70k mark.

Jimmy Wales on BTC Price

The co-founder of Wikipedia said that anyone who believes that BTC price would go to zero is mistaken, adding that the design is robust enough to help the token sustain in perpetuity. Jimmy has underlined that there has to be an unforeseen breakdown in cryptography or a 51% attack for the token to hit zero.

However, he has flagged that bitcoin may decline to a price consistent with hobbyist tinkering. Wales, in the same post on X, called it a complete failure as a currency and as a store of value. Wikipedia co-founder has forecasted that the token may reach a price target in 2050 that comes to under $10,000 in today’s value.

Wikipedia Co-Founder Clarifies

Needless to say, his post attracted several comments from the crypto community. One member called it a successful currency because of its limited supply, adding that AI bots are adopting it already. Jimmy countered by calling BTC a speculative asset at best, and underlining that AI bots were not adopting it in a meaningful way.

Another member said that there was a lot of institutional support in the form of ETFs, indices, and other products. Wales countered by calling the institutional support ruthless, saying that it could trade lower if nothing new develops and people lose interest.

BTC Price and Prediction

BTC is currently listed at $67,728.35, down by 1.02% over the last 24 hours and 23.93% in a month. Nevertheless, the trading value shows a brighter picture, given that the crypto recently slipped as low as $62,910.32. It briefly traded at $69,371.61, and it now aims to reclaim the spot closer to the $70k mark.

The 3-month prediction for BTC shows a modest surge of 5.28% to around $71,021, amid a high volatility of 9.08%. The 14-Day RSI is neutral at 42.32 points. Kalshi Traders estimate that bitcoins may not reach $100,000 in 2026 – the token may go as high as $94,000 this year.

UK Looks to US to Adopt More Crypto-Friendly Approach

The post UK Looks to US to Adopt More Crypto-Friendly Approach appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The UK and US are reportedly preparing to deepen cooperation on digital assets, with Britain looking to copy the Trump administration’s crypto-friendly stance in a bid to boost innovation.  UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent discussed on Tuesday how the two nations could strengthen their coordination on crypto, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.  The discussions also involved representatives from crypto companies, including Coinbase, Circle Internet Group and Ripple, with executives from the Bank of America, Barclays and Citi also attending, according to the report. The agreement was made “last-minute” after crypto advocacy groups urged the UK government on Thursday to adopt a more open stance toward the industry, claiming its cautious approach to the sector has left the country lagging in innovation and policy.  Source: Rachel Reeves Deal to include stablecoins, look to unlock adoption Any deal between the countries is likely to include stablecoins, the Financial Times reported, an area of crypto that US President Donald Trump made a policy priority and in which his family has significant business interests. The Financial Times reported on Monday that UK crypto advocacy groups also slammed the Bank of England’s proposal to limit individual stablecoin holdings to between 10,000 British pounds ($13,650) and 20,000 pounds ($27,300), claiming it would be difficult and expensive to implement. UK banks appear to have slowed adoption too, with around 40% of 2,000 recently surveyed crypto investors saying that their banks had either blocked or delayed a payment to a crypto provider.  Many of these actions have been linked to concerns over volatility, fraud and scams. The UK has made some progress on crypto regulation recently, proposing a framework in May that would see crypto exchanges, dealers, and agents treated similarly to traditional finance firms, with…
