Anthropic introduces context editing and a memory tool in the Claude Developer Platform, enhancing AI agents’ efficiency in handling long-running tasks.

Anthropic has unveiled novel features designed to improve the management of AI agents’ context on the Claude Developer Platform. The new capabilities, namely context editing and the memory tool, are integrated with Claude Sonnet 4.5, enabling developers to build AI agents that can efficiently handle extended tasks without compromising on performance.

Addressing Context Window Limitations

As AI agents engage in more complex tasks, they often face the challenge of exceeding their context windows. This can force developers to either truncate agent transcripts or accept a decrease in performance. Anthropic’s context management solutions offer a dual approach to mitigate these issues. The context editing feature automatically removes outdated tool calls and results, thereby maintaining the conversation flow and extending the agent’s operational time without manual adjustments. This ensures that the AI model focuses solely on pertinent context, enhancing its performance.

Innovative Memory Tool

Anthropic’s memory tool is designed to store and access information outside the conventional context window through a file-based system. This approach allows Claude to create, read, update, and delete files in a memory directory that persists across conversations. Consequently, AI agents can build and maintain knowledge bases, retain project states across sessions, and reference previous learnings, all without the need to keep all data within the immediate context.

The memory tool functions entirely on the client-side through tool calls, granting developers full control over data storage and persistence. This feature, coupled with built-in context awareness in Claude Sonnet 4.5, allows for more effective management of available tokens during conversations.

Enhancing Long-Running AI Agents

These advancements in context management are particularly beneficial for developing long-running AI agents capable of processing entire codebases, analyzing extensive document collections, or maintaining comprehensive tool interaction histories. Use cases include:

  • Coding: By removing old file reads and test results while preserving debugging insights, agents can operate on large codebases without losing progress.
  • Research: Key findings are stored in memory, while outdated search results are cleared, enhancing the performance of knowledge bases over time.
  • Data Processing: Intermediate results are stored in memory, and raw data is edited out, allowing agents to handle workflows that exceed token limits.

Performance Boosts Through Context Management

Anthropic’s internal evaluations of agentic search tasks reveal that combining the memory tool with context editing can improve performance by 39% over baseline, while context editing alone offers a 29% improvement. In a 100-turn web search evaluation, context editing enabled agents to complete tasks that would otherwise fail due to context exhaustion, reducing token consumption by 84%.

The new capabilities are now available in public beta on the Claude Developer Platform and are accessible via Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI. For more information, developers can explore the documentation on context editing and the memory tool, or visit the cookbook on GitHub.

Live Nation CEO says demand is unmistakable, concert tickets are underpriced

The post Live Nation CEO says demand is unmistakable, concert tickets are underpriced appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino and Smith Entertainment Group CEO Ryan Smith said this week live events are more central than ever to culture and commerce in a post-pandemic world. The executives spoke at CNBC Sport and Boardroom’s Game Plan conference on Tuesday, saying the demand for in-person events has been unmistakable. “No matter what you bring to that table that day, you unite around that one shared experience,” Rapino said. “For those two hours, I tend to drop whatever baggage I have and have a shared moment.” According to Goldman Sachs, the live music industry is expected to grow at a 7.2% compounded annual rate through 2030, fueled by millennials and Gen Z. Smith bought the Utah Jazz in 2020 and launched a new NHL franchise in the state in 2024. “In sports, we’re really media companies,” Smith said. “We’ve got talent, we’ve got distribution. We’re putting on a show or a wedding or something every night.” Get the CNBC Sport newsletter directly to your inbox The CNBC Sport newsletter with Alex Sherman brings you the biggest news and exclusive interviews from the worlds of sports business and media, delivered weekly to your inbox. With streaming revenue dwarfed by touring income, live shows have become one of artists’ primary sources of revenue. “The artist is going to make 98% of their money from the show,” he said. “We just did Beyonce’s tour. She’s got 62 transport trucks outside. That’s a Super Bowl she’s putting on every night.” Despite headlines about rising ticket prices, Rapino argued that concerts are still underpriced compared to sporting events. “In sports, I joke it’s like a badge of honor to spend 70 grand for Knicks courtside,” Rapino said.…
