FACT CHECK: Marcoleta not replacing Marcos as president

2025/12/06 11:21

Claim: Senator Rodante Marcoleta will replace President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as president of the Philippines.

Rating: FALSE

Why we fact-checked this: A video uploaded on November 26 by the channel “NEWS UPDATE FILES” carried the title: “Good news! Confirmed! Marcoleta, New President? Marcos Jr., papalitan na (to be replaced)?

The thumbnail repeats the same text and depicts Marcoleta holding up a document beside a visibly shocked Marcos.

As of writing, the video has garnered more than 26,000 views, 2,700 likes, and 115 comments. Its description also includes the hashtags #blueribboncommittee, #Malacañang, and #PBBM.

The facts: There is no credible evidence that Marcos is being replaced by Marcoleta. Malacañang has not released any notice reporting a leadership change.

Marcos remains in office, as confirmed by press releases of recent events from the Presidential Communications Office (PCO). Marcoleta continues to serve as senator.

The video cited as “proof” merely shows political commentator Banat By reacting to a new video by Zaldy Co’s revelations about the bicam insertions (READ: Zaldy Co accuses Sandro Marcos of P50.9-B budget insertions). It does not present any information about a transition of power.

Under the 1987 Constitution, the vice president is first in line to assume the presidency if it is vacated. If both the presidency and vice presidency are empty, the Senate president takes over, followed by the House speaker.

Clickbait: The thumbnail image of Marcoleta holding a document was taken during his filing of candidacy in October 2024.

The video title and thumbnail are misleading, using sensational imagery and language to drive engagement through clickbait.

Replacement woes: Rumors calling for Marcos’ resignation and speculation about his successors such as Vice President Sara Duterte or Marcoleta, have circulated online amid corruption allegations regarding the bicam insertion scheme and claims about his alleged drug use. Despite all this, Marcos remains unfazed and has rejected calls to step down. – Cyril Bocar/Rappler.com

The post Why This New Trending Meme Coin Is Being Dubbed The New PEPE After Record Presale appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Crypto News 17 September 2025 | 20:13 The meme coin market is heating up once again as traders look for the next breakout token. While Shiba Inu (SHIB) continues to build its ecosystem and PEPE holds onto its viral roots, a new contender, Layer Brett (LBRETT), is gaining attention after raising more than $3.7 million in its presale. With a live staking system, fast-growing community, and real tech backing, some analysts are already calling it “the next PEPE.” Here’s the latest on the Shiba Inu price forecast, what’s going on with PEPE, and why Layer Brett is drawing in new investors fast. Shiba Inu price forecast: Ecosystem builds, but retail looks elsewhere Shiba Inu (SHIB) continues to develop its broader ecosystem with Shibarium, the project’s Layer 2 network built to improve speed and lower gas fees. While the community remains strong, the price hasn’t followed suit lately. SHIB is currently trading around $0.00001298, and while that’s a decent jump from its earlier lows, it still falls short of triggering any major excitement across the market. The project includes additional tokens like BONE and LEASH, and also has ongoing initiatives in DeFi and NFTs. However, even with all this development, many investors feel the hype that once surrounded SHIB has shifted elsewhere, particularly toward newer, more dynamic meme coins offering better entry points and incentives. PEPE: Can it rebound or is the momentum gone? PEPE saw a parabolic rise during the last meme coin surge, catching fire on social media and delivering massive short-term gains for early adopters. However, like most meme tokens driven largely by hype, it has since cooled off. PEPE is currently trading around $0.00001076, down significantly from its peak. While the token still enjoys a loyal community, analysts believe its best days may be behind it unless…
