Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko suggests cryptocurrency could replace USD dependence, prioritizing crypto mining for electricity use.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko made a notable statement. He said the world is accelerating its move. This move is away from dependence on the U.S. dollar. Cryptocurrencies, he added, might be a different route to take. He pointed out the mining of cryptocurrencies. He can see it as one of the priority use cases for the country. This is for the consumption of electricity. He acknowledged mining revenues may fluctuate. However, he stressed there is “no need to worry too much.”

Lukashenko Touts Crypto Mining for Economic Independence

President Lukashenko made the above remarks at a meeting. This meeting discussed the performance of the Belarusian NPP. It also discussed the problem of increasing electricity consumption. Proposals for the construction of new nuclear capacities were also on the agenda. The meeting took place in Minsk on November 14.

The president requested a report. This report was about measures taken to increase the consumption of electricity. It also discussed their results. Proposals for additional development of the electric power industry were solicited. Related sectors were included too. This represents a strategic focus on energy.

“For example, mining of cryptocurrencies, electric transport, construction of all-electric houses,” the head of state said. “The focus is on the prospects of using existing and new capacities.” This brings to the fore a national strategy. It is aimed at diversifying the use of energy.

“I have read various reports and opinions here,” Lukashenko went on. “One of the reports says that the mining of cryptocurrencies can be unstable. It can be higher in some locations, lower in others. He then related this to a global problem. “Our whole world is now confronted with a world problem. This problem is moving away from the dependence on a single currency, the dollar. This process will intensify. Cryptocurrency is probably one of the options.” This shows that there is a strong belief in the potential of crypto.

Global Shift from Dollar Reliance and Crypto’s Role

President Lukashenko’s comments are in line with an increasing sentiment around the world. Many countries are trying to lessen their dependence on the U.S. dollar. This is for the international trade and reserves. The president recognizes cryptocurrency as an alternative. This vision provides more financial autonomy to Belarus.

His focus on cryptocurrency mining is especially important. It suggests the idea of being proactive. Belarus wants to take advantage of its energy resources. This is for the emerging digital industries. The country’s nuclear power plant production bears this out. It is a source of sufficient amplitude of electricity. This could put Belarus into the position of a key player. This is in the global crypto mining scenario.

It is also important that the president recognizes the volatility of mining revenue. It provides a realistic understanding of the market. Yet, his confidence in general is high. He believes in the potential of cryptocurrencies in the long run. This is as an economic diversification tool.

This move by Belarus may serve as an inspiration to other nations. They might also consider similar strategies. This is for reducing the dollar dependence. The global financial system is in a state of transformation. Cryptocurrencies have an expanding role to play. Belarus’s position could speed up this change.

Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC

The post Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson has weighed in on whether the Federal Reserve should make a 25 basis points (bps) Fed rate cut or 50 bps cut. This comes ahead of the Fed decision today at today’s FOMC meeting, with the market pricing in a 25 bps cut. Bitcoin and the broader crypto market are currently trading flat ahead of the rate cut decision. Franklin Templeton CEO Weighs In On Potential FOMC Decision In a CNBC interview, Jenny Johnson said that she expects the Fed to make a 25 bps cut today instead of a 50 bps cut. She acknowledged the jobs data, which suggested that the labor market is weakening. However, she noted that this data is backward-looking, indicating that it doesn’t show the current state of the economy. She alluded to the wage growth, which she remarked is an indication of a robust labor market. She added that retail sales are up and that consumers are still spending, despite inflation being sticky at 3%, which makes a case for why the FOMC should opt against a 50-basis-point Fed rate cut. In line with this, the Franklin Templeton CEO said that she would go with a 25 bps rate cut if she were Jerome Powell. She remarked that the Fed still has the October and December FOMC meetings to make further cuts if the incoming data warrants it. Johnson also asserted that the data show a robust economy. However, she noted that there can’t be an argument for no Fed rate cut since Powell already signaled at Jackson Hole that they were likely to lower interest rates at this meeting due to concerns over a weakening labor market. Notably, her comment comes as experts argue for both sides on why the Fed should make a 25 bps cut or…

Analyst Predicts ‘Uptober’ Rally for BTC Regardless of FOMC Decision

The post Analyst Predicts ‘Uptober’ Rally for BTC Regardless of FOMC Decision appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Bitcoin traded at $116,236 as of 14:04 UTC on Sept. 17, up about 1% in the past 24 hours, holding above a key level as markets await the Federal Reserve’s policy announcement. Analysts’ comments Dean Crypto Trades noted on X that bitcoin is only about 7% above its post-election local peak, while the S&P 500 has risen 9% and gold has surged 36% during the same period. He said bitcoin has compressed more than those assets, making it likely to lead the next larger move, though it could form a “lower high” before extending further. He added that ether could join in once it breaks $5,000 and enters price discovery. Lark Davis pointed to bitcoin’s history around September FOMC meetings, saying every September decision since 2020 — except during the 2022 bear market — has preceded a strong rally. He stressed that the pattern is less about the Fed’s rate choice itself and more about seasonal dynamics, arguing that bitcoin tends to thrive in this period heading into “Uptober.” CoinDesk Research’s technical analysis According to CoinDesk Research’s technical analysis data model, bitcoin rose about 0.9% during the Sept. 16–17 analysis window, climbing from $115,461 to $116,520. BTC reached a session high of $117,317 at 07:00 UTC on Sept. 17 before consolidating. Following that peak, bitcoin tested the $116,400–$116,600 range multiple times, confirming it as a short-term support zone. In the final hour of the session, between 11:39 and 12:38 UTC, BTC attempted a breakout: prices moved narrowly between $116,351 and $116,376 before spiking to $116,551 at 12:34 on higher volume. This confirmed a consolidation-breakout pattern, though the gains were modest. Overall, bitcoin remains firm above $116,000, with support around $116,400 and resistance near $117,300.
