PANews reported on January 10 that the widow of the late early Bitcoin contributor Hal Finney posted on her X (formerly Twitter) account that 17 years ago today, Hal Finney (@Halfin) posted his first tweet mentioning Bitcoin, "Running bitcoin," and announced the launch of the fifth "Running Bitcoin Challenge."
Hal Finney was the recipient of Satoshi Nakamoto's first Bitcoin transaction and played a key role in the refinement and operation of early versions of Bitcoin. He passed away due to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
