Italy’s Ambassador to Mozambique, Gabriele Annis, launched the MOZITA 2026 program on 9 April in Maputo, expanding cultural and business ties.

The programme builds on MOZITA50’s success in 2025, which celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations. Last year’s events drew large crowds through jazz festivals, cinema screenings, and artistic residencies. Corporate sponsors included Renco, BCI, Inalca, COTUR, Eni, Bonatti, Messina, and Leonardo.

MOZITA 2026 expands successful formats across more cities. The Jazz Festival returns with saxophonists Enzo Favata and Moreira Chonguica. The Italian Cinema Festival features workshops and screenings. A Concert for Peace takes place on 4 October alongside Italian cuisine and language promotions.

New Cultural Infrastructure Projects

The ‘A Bridge Made of Art’ project launches seminars from late April. Italy’s Ministry of Culture funds the initiative under Piano Mattei. Italian instructors train young Mozambican artists in various disciplines.

A photography exhibition by Marco Palombi showcases agricultural development in Manica and Sofala provinces. The display highlights changes from Italian development aid programmes. Italian Design Day was held on 24 March at Eduardo Mondlane University. Made in Italy features at Mozambique Fashion Week this autumn.

A business mission targets infrastructure and construction sectors. This follows 2025’s successful results, which included Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida’s participation. Italian firms seek opportunities in Mozambique’s growing economy.

Investment Opportunities Emerge

The programme aligns cultural initiatives with economic goals. It strengthens soft power whilst creating market access for Italian businesses. Investors identify opportunities in creative industries and cultural infrastructure projects. Youth training programmes build skills for long-term partnerships.

Piano Mattei backing signals government commitment to bilateral projects. This support enhances investor confidence in Italy-Mozambique ventures. Infrastructure missions highlight Italian expertise in construction and development sectors.

Corporate sponsorships remain open for 2026 and early 2027 events. Companies can participate through the Italian Embassy in Maputo. The programme creates bridges between cultural exchange and commercial opportunity.

MOZITA demonstrates how cultural diplomacy supports business development. Investors benefit from enhanced bilateral relations and sector expertise. Mozambique’s creative and infrastructure markets offer clear entry points for Italian enterprises.
