CNN's Anderson Cooper delivered a devastating takedown of President Donald Trump over his weekend attacks on Pope Leo XIV.
On Sunday, Trump posted on Truth Social that Pope Leo is "weak" on crime and foreign policy. He also impugned the character of the Pope, accusing him of catering to the "radical left," and said he doesn't appreciate the Pope criticizing the war in Iran or Trump's immigration agenda. He doubled down on those remarks during a press conference at Joint Base Andrews on Sunday night when he said the Pope is a "very liberal person" who "doesn't believe in stopping crime."

Trump continued posting on Truth Social throughout the night, Cooper noted. At one point, Trump posted and then deleted an AI-generated image of himself appearing to depict himself as Jesus healing a sick man.
Trump confirmed on Monday that he made the post, but said he did not recognize the Christian iconography.
Cooper had a blistering response to Trump's posts during the opening segment of "CNN Global Report" on Monday.
"Come on!" Cooper exclaimed, calling it one of the "lamest lies imaginable."
He then displayed a copy of Trump's AI-generated photo alongside images of a doctor and Jesus to compare them.
"For those who may be confused, this is Jesus. This is Trump. Jesus. And this is a doctor. We've all been to doctors here," Cooper said, pointing at each picture respectively.
