Sam Raimi’s Horror Thriller ‘Send Help’ Lands Hulu Release Date

Send Help, a survival horror thriller starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, is coming soon to streaming video on demand on Hulu.

Directed by Raimi (The Evil Dead and original Spider-Man franchises), Send Help opened in theaters on Jan. 30 and arrived on digital streaming via premium video on demand on March 24. In the film, Rachel McAdams stars as Linda Liddle, a hard-working but socially awkward analyst who is bypassed for apromotion by her company’s newly appointed CEO, Bradley Preston (Dylan O’Brien).

Instead of following his late father’s wishes to make Linda the company’s vice president, Bradley instead promotes a former frat brother, Donovan (Xavier Samuel), in an old boys’ club move. However, when the corporate jet they and other company principals are flying on crashes over the ocean, everybody perishes except Linda and Bradley, who wash ashore on a deserted island.

With Bradley injured and immobile and Linda versed in survival skills thanks to, among other things, being a big fan of the reality TV series Survivor, the power dynamic suddenly shifts. In short, Bradley can try to order Linda around, but she reminds him they are not in the office anymore and she’s willing to go to extreme measures to prove it.

Send Help is set to premiere on SVOD on Hulu on Disney+ on Thursday, May 7, the streaming platform announced in a press release on Tuesday (via When to Stream).

Viewers who don’t subscribe to Hulu on Disney+ can get an ad-based package for the streaming service for $12.99 per month or an ad-free package for $19.99 per month.

How Did ‘Send Help’ Perform In Theaters?

Send Help ended its domestic theatrical run on April 9 after earning $64.7 million. Combined with its international take of $29.3 million, the film’s worldwide box office tally was $94 million.

Rated R, Send Help had a production budget of $40 million before marketing costs, according to Variety.

Written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, Send Help, which also stars Edyll Ismail, Dennis Haysbert, Xavier Samuel, Chris Pang, Thaneth Warakulnukroh and Emma Raimi, is available on PVOD and arrives on Hulu on Disney+ on May 7.
