Fiery Rahm Emanuel melts down on ex-GOP gov: 'November is going to be a big shock'

Rahm Emanuel, the former ambassador to Japan, melted down on Tuesday during a panel debate about the direction the Republican and Democratic parties are headed before the midterms.

Emanuel was joined by Glenn Youngkin, the former governor of Virginia, at the Miliken Institute for the panel. While the two former officials fielded questions about the upcoming election, Youngkin's defense of the Trump administration seemed to push Emanuel over the edge.

"What's going to happen in November is going to be a big shock to you," Emanuel said, pointing at Youngkin. "People don't like corruption. They don't like the White House looking like eBay. And if it ain't nailed down, you've sold it. And they don't like a set of politics that goes from the rule of law to the rule of one man!"

Emanuel's comments come at a time when analysts have predicted that the GOP faces steep odds to protect its majority after the 2026 midterms. Some Republican states, such as Louisiana and Florida, have rushed to redraw their election maps to give Republicans more seats in Congress following the Supreme Court's recent decision in Louisiana v. Callais.

Youngkin shot back at Emanuel by arguing that the most popular leaders in the Democratic Party are socialists.

"You're going to get your comeuppance!" Emanuel said.
