CEBU, Philippines – Cebu City officials confirmed that at least 34 people are still missing on Friday morning, January 9, after a landslide occurred at the Barangay Binaliw landfill in Cebu City a day before.
Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival told reporters that rescuers are working overtime to find the missing individuals. Twelve individuals have been rescued so far and sent to the hospital while a woman has been confirmed dead, as of this writing.
Families of victims are waiting near the landfill in hopes of being reunited with their loved ones who are still trapped under the rubble.
