PANews reported on January 17th that 17 years ago today, on January 17, 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto released the first version of the Bitcoin client v0.1, namely: Bitcoin v0.1 Alpha, which allowed anyone to start their own node from any computer.
It is reported that the Bitcoin 0.1.0 source code also included an Internet Chat (IRC) client, designed to create a simpler way of message routing. It also included a framework for creating a virtual poker game, which was added to the Bitcoin version on April 16, 2008, and completely removed in Bitcoin version 0.8.2.
